Oh joy, I can hardly wait.dead_poet wrote:

This is stupid. It sucks that the team has to deal with this problem.

Am I missing something? I would be furious if this was the compensation, and this isn't the first time a fourth-rounder has been floated. He's more valuable to the Vikings than a fourth-round pick, especially when his contract is manageable.@JohnMiddlekauff NFL net just said Adrian Peterson could be on the move. Not sure many teams can take that contract. Id trade a 4th & take on the $

The theory is probably that if Peterson wants out, the Vikes will take what they can get and that fi a team has to take on his salary, they won't want to give up a high draft pick as well.dead_poet wrote: Am I missing something? Then why do you trade him at all? Just to be rid of a guy on the roster that doesn't want to be there? Doesn't that set a pretty dangerous precedent (or is that already in the culture with Harvin?). And if that's truly his "value" to the league right now, you can't sell that low, can you? Not for a guy that could realistically get the rushing title back and be in the league MVP conversation again. No way. I either get what I want for him or force him to voluntarily sit out, which will cost him not only money but stats towards the record books, letting down his teammates, potential endorsements and draw even harsher criticism (outrage likely) from fans. I just don't see him doing that. I will call that bluff on Peterson every time.frosted wrote:If he's traded I don't think we're gonna get the return we are hoping for.

You guys are illustrating what a blank canvas this situation has become. Wolfson reported that someone close to Peterson expects "news" to happen with him over the next couple of days and you've both jumped to a conclusion not implied at all in the report (which barely qualifies as a report). That doesn't mean you're wrong but at this point, people are just projecting their own hopes, fears, anger, whatever onto every piece of news and every development or non-development.PurpleMustReign wrote:Well the AD era is probably over. :'( This sucks.

Yes. Can't agree with this enough. We are in a strong position here with our healthy cap space. Let him sit on the bench while mckinnon gets touches. The amount of damage he would do to his value, rep, and record is so high if he doesn't blink first he really is too stubborn to do anything but be a full time mule.dead_poet wrote: Then why do you trade him at all? I agree, DP. That's exactly what I would do. I just don't think that's Zimmer's style. If Peterson is adamant about leaving and not bought in 100%, I don't think Zim will want to keep him around.dead_poet wrote: Then why do you trade him at all? It's painfully obvious that nobody outside of the Vikings and Peterson's camp knows what's going to happen... and that assumes they've reached a firm conclusion, which may not be the case at all.
