I bet if the All Star Game had been one week later Delmon Young would have made it. He is white hot lately.

And can someone please tell me why Danny Valencia has not been on the roster all year? I think, hopefully, the Twins have found their third baseman.

I dont follow MLB like I do the NFL, so I pay little attention to teams not in our division. So, are the Twins going to go after a pitcher? Is there a pitcher available that would be an improvement that doesnt have the Twins "no trade clase" on?

well with Haren to the Angels, the only pitcher of note is Oswalt but I doubt he's going to come here. Rumor is he's going to the Phillies

I heard Oswalt wants to go to STL.

I would like the Twins to go after a starter. Although Liriano, Pavano, and Duensing have all been pitching well. I don't have a whole lot of faith in Slowey or Baker at this point. I would love for Oswalt to come here.

Here's what the Trade Buzz article on mlb.com says about Oswalt:
Texas is also keeping its eye on the seemingly depleted market for Roy Oswalt, SI.com and FOXSports.com wrote. Oswalt to the Rangers, however, is still considered a longshot. Oswalt, who has a full no-trade clause, insisted location doesn't matter, as long as he goes to a contender. The Phillies are still hopeful of obtaining the pricey right-hander, but reports have indicated that the Cardinals -- in the same division as the Astros -- are pretty much out of the race.
Oswalt to the Rangers would be pretty amazing, considering they already nabbed Cliff Lee. They're damn serious about making a deep run into the playoffs. The Twins would be a perfect fit for him, but I would be surprised if they try to get him. That's just not how the Twins build their teams.

Anyone know the length of Oswalt's current contract?

Wow Valencia, Young, and even Mauer are on fire this road trip. Pavano did not pitch well, but a W is a W. I suppose we will play well enough near the trade deadline to make the Twins convince themselves we dont need pitching help :? . I hope they do something cuz if not, we'll be able to beat up on the bottom feeders, but when we play real MLB teams, I dont think our pitching is good enough. I dont know who is available, but almost anything is better than a couple we currently have throwing.

That's exactly what I am afraid of. And that has gotten the Twins into trouble in the past as well.
I will say this: IF Duensing pitches well, and Liriano and Pavano keep pitching like they are capable of, then we have a very solid front three. Then maybe there wouldn't be as much pressure on Baker, Blackburn and Slowass. Maybe that would help those three (whoever is in the rotation at that time) become more successful.
I stillwould rather look into moving Ramos for a good starter (Ted Lily? Roy Oswalt?). I want us to make one move of some kind, because we do have some large holes.

Again I think Guardy screwed up in the game today. Jesse Crain went in and 3 up and 3 down, but only lets him throw one quick inning, even though he was pitching well IMO. So the others come in and let the Royals back in the game. Dunsing could have went longer IMO, so could Crain. He is terrible when the starting pitcher cant go 7+ innings, terrible IMO.

so much of baseball anymore has to do with what kind of stuff the guys have, if they're righty or lefty, and if the batter is righty or lefty. it's not surprising at all anymore to see a guy face and retire 3 batters in a row and still be taken out. i can assure you gardenhire isn't the only managaer who does this. i watch a ton of baseball everyday on the extra innings package while i work from home and this is very common and will only become more common. i can't speak on the matchups this afternoon as i missed the end of the game to take the kids to the park but just saying that gardenhire and his staff probably aren't clueless when they make moves like these. not to mention the fact that he and anderson probabaly know way more about our pitchers, their tendancies, as well as their strengths and weaknesses than we do.

Agreed, although Duensing I can understand because it is only his 2nd start of the season.
Crain should have been able to pitch the 8th. Guerierr (I spell his name different every time) has been over worked, and it shows. Crain has been on fire lately.

So much for Oswalt...He will go to the Phillies if he waives his no-trade clause
