New Uniforms?

Re: New Uniforms?
I like them, kind of look almost like the throwbacks (which I really like). Do not like the numbers though.
The difference between men is not lack of strength, not lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.
Re: New Uniforms?
Just what the hell were they thinking? Doesn't someone in the Vikings' front office, maybe Zygi himself, have to sign off on stuff like this?
Zygi: "I dunno... Looks odd, don't you think? Do you think the kids will really buy this?"
Nike: "Yeah, Zygi, it's new, it's different, it's 2013. It'll be a big hit."
Zygi: "Ok, if you say so. You're the guys who should know."

I don't know why, but I seriously dig the matte finish on the helmet.
I think they look sleek. The serif font doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I was expecting it to funnel into a horn. It doesn't do that. Not perfect, but still, pretty sharp.

Re: New Uniforms?
I was at the draft party last night where Felton, Rudolph, Ponder, and Griffen came out wearing these in their pads. These are better with a player wearing them. These are NOT cool looking jerseys (much like the 06-12 era) to wear around casually. It's weird because I am a huge uniform junkie but rarely do I buy jerseys. Most MN teams have awful jerseys except for throwbacks.
Weird twist? My brother's best friend designed these jerseys. I forgot he worked at Nike in Portland and he's responsible for Gophers and Oregon. Great dude but part of me wants to get drunk with him and be like "Were you listening to disturbed when making our numbers"?

Re: New Uniforms?
I already preordered Greg Jennings, Shariff Floyd, and Xavier Rhodes!
I will wait for the elite jerseys for either or Cordarrelle Patterson or a Kyle Rudolph. Maybe a John Sullivan!

Re: New Uniforms?
I like the matte finish, it goes with the jersey color much better, but what's with the black face mask? Black is not a team color and it's not used anywhere else on the uniform, except maybe the shoes. They say it helps give the helmet a "stoic look" and I guess it matches the helmet horn outline, but they should have incorporated the black elsewhere on the uniform IMO. Like to outline the name/numbers. I also would have added a black stripe between the white and yellow shoulder stripe, and a thin black stripe running down the pants along the yellow stripe. Nothing crazy, just enough to make it pop and tie it all together, much like the Lions uniform. As it stands, the stoic helmet theme doesn't match the plain uniform theme.

Re: New Uniforms?
Gray was also used on the face mask in years past and isn't incorporated anywhere else on the uniform. The lines look okay on the short sleeved uniform like the one AD wears but looks odd on the long sleeved jerseys sold to fans and worn by guys like Ponder. I still think the throwbacks from two years ago were the best uniforms but all in all, I can live with it.Reignman wrote:I like the matte finish, it goes with the jersey color much better, but what's with the black face mask? Re: New Uniforms?
I saw a picture in which all 4 combinations were incorporated, so I believe they will be using all 4 (Purple/Purple, Purple/White, White/Purple, White/White).Laserman wrote:Why not purple pants with the white jersey? All white is kinda weak
I'm guessing the "norm" will be the combination of purple jersey and white pants for home games, and white jerseys with purple pants for away games. And the purple/purple, white/white combinations will be alternates for a few games a year.
I personally don't particularly like the purple pants with either jersey, especially the all purple combination. But that's just my personal opinion. But with that said, I like the jerseys (minus the serifs on the font) enough, that the color of the pants doesn't really bother me. Can't wait to see them in action

Re: New Uniforms?
I'm really picking nits here, but I don't see why they needed a black facemask. A slightly darker purple would have been nice, too. I have to see the matte finish on the helmets on the field, but they seem okay to me.
The font of the numbers is a little strange, but after seeing Jacksonville's, I think it could have much, much worse.
But, like I said before, this is a big improvement over the 2006 version.

I would have preferred some kind of of TIE DYED jersey with a mood helmet thing that changed colors from gold to purple.

Re: New Uniforms?
I know but not all players wear the elastic short sleeve.mrc44 wrote: The Elite jerseys dont have long sleeves, they are elastic short sleeve. They are what the players wear in the games, they have the wiring in the collar, the short sleeves with elastic, and the different fabrics that are breathable. The Elites look way better in real life.

I think a gold (I mean GOLD, not yellow) facemask would be tight as well.Demi wrote:I love the Matte helmet, with grey face mask.
Going to be interesting to see what they look like on the field though.

Re: New Uniforms?
The best thing about this uniform is the helmet. The purple pants are nice and I like the choice of matte purple. But the helmet stands out to me, everything else is meh....
