You want to see what they say about a bad pick, listen to the ESPN crew talk about Armstead, the 49'ers pick. A 1st round DE with something like 4 sacks in 3 years?
Didn't want him at #11 though. Just to be clear to the world of Vikings fans.

@MasterStrib: Mike Zimmer on Waynes "To me, it's extremely important you have a guy with great character." So in other words, not Marcus Peters #Vikings

@ArifHasanNFL: Zimmer: Everyone bases Pro Bowl on how many interceptions you get but my whole mentality is how many times to you deny your guy the football

So... He should have liked Marcus Peters more if we're talking about pure football ability only - with no other factors.

Wut.

@Andrew_Krammer: Zimmer: "It's hard to find 6-foot corners nowadays. To get big corners who can run w/ good change of direction, hard to find."

Childress also liked guys with character...that didnt work out so well. We had as many character as just about anyone in the NFL. If they wanted someone to match Rhodes, it was Peters.

@Andrew_Krammer: Zimmer: "You can write it down, it's height vs. height. We're not going to take any 5'9" corners."

Yikes. I really liked the tape on Marcus Peters. Looked much better than the two guys chosen before him. Character issues place him at a significant risk though.

I didn't particularly think we got good value with any of the CB's at #11. Peters because of character. Waynes because he didn't look like a natural CB to me. But the guys in charge have earned our trust, I'd say.

Zimmer: “We actually thought that Trae might be gone before we picked…we felt like they wanted to come up and get him at that spot.”
Oh my. It's the obligatory "we didn't think he would be there." Worst draft cliche there is.

Zim ... I'm glad you are coaching the Vikings but please don't do this again.
