It could definitely be worth it, I just think one of the big bonuses of a draft pick is that the starting salary is going to be much lower for the "unproven" guy, the rookie. In that sense we could potentially sign jennings AND draft a WR for what would actually be a pretty similar price. I like the idea of 2 players trying to fix something, rather than everything in the Cruz basket.

Oh crap! If that's the case, then forget about Cruz. Man, this free agency hasn't been kind to me at all. :?

Even if the Vikings sign Jennings or someone like him, I'm hoping they draft two WRs with at least one coming in R1.

In the case of TL;DR, I am frustrated because I see the same keep the sub-par players mentality right now. It pisses me off because I am sick of being mediocre team.
We made splashes in free agency before. What'd we get? Old guys. And no rings. Old guys who we are now trying to replace and part of the reason we are in this situation. Instead of trying to develop players, we signed them. Sharper, Hutch, Winfield. Yeah all good players that contributed...while they could. Eating up salary at the same time, and year after year we start losing them with no replacements, no one with experience. They cut Longwell overpaid wily veteran. Worked out better than fine. They moved Sharper, it took a little while, but voila, we have a stud as his replacement that will be here for a decade. McKinnie, solid player, high cap hit, old. Cut. Replaced with a guy who is going to be here for a decade.

That's how you build a team. Not by signing Bernard Berrian, or Greg Jennings, and if Ponder works out, they're falling apart quickly, if Ponder doesn't, the guy you get to replace him is stuck with old has beens.

Yeah the candy tastes great when you're in that candy store buying it all up. Now now now.

How about later when you have no money, a stomach ache, and your teeth are rotting out of your head!

GO RICK GO!

2 WR's + a FA like Jennings might be a little much, unless we some how manage not to pick a WR with one of our two first rounders, than I'd be okay with like a 2nd and 3rd or one of our two 4th's also going towards another WR. We could definitely use the WR's though so if it's BPA I have no problems with it.

Not sure if it was reported here or not but Amendola has signed with the Pats. Welker to Broncos (controversy!).

Good post. But the WR position is worisome, isn´t it? It is rare that rookie WRs make immediate impacts, so if we draft, say, Tavon Austin (#23), Justin Hunter (rd 2) and Josh Boyce (one of our rd 4 picks) do you really think we´ll have a solid enough receiving corps this year? I honestly don´t know what I think. I know I´d be excited with those three rookies, just not sure how confident I´d be that our passing attack would be decent even.

If he can stay healthy, Amendola is going to be scary in that offense. I'm already putting him on my radar for my PPR fantasy league.

Smells of agent mischief. Could be as simple as the agent reaching out to the Vikings, the Vikings saying "oh that's interesting. No thanks" and the that's considered having "talks."

Unless it's a one-year deal at an incredible bargain with the possibility of playing behind a rookie I can't imagine how this would make any sense. Cut Winfield but sign Urlacher? What message does that send? Might as well re-sign EJ for the vet minimum.

Darrelle Revis - DB - Jets

Darrelle Revis is owed a $1M roster bonus Saturday.

A meager $1M shouldn't affect the urgency when negotiating a trade of this magnitude. But this is the Jets, so you never know. Per ESPN New York, they're engaged in talks with the Bucs but "no trade appears imminent." Meanwhile, Revis is on vacation in Paris and a picture of him wearing a Falcons hat has surfaced via his manager's Twitter page.

Yeah I can dig that, I have watched and/or #### about Urlacher for as long as he's been a Bear (i.e. forever), it would sure be painful to have to flip the rhetoric. Granted, as mentioned above, we did it with Favre, but I'm not sure how much I even disliked that guy to begin with.

Guess I wouldn't mind rooting for him if he excelled, and if our defense sucked, he'd sure be a fun scapegoat.

Message? That we desperately need a middle linebacker? And don't need a part time slot corner for 7 million dollars?...And they'd take a division rivals heart and soul?

I'd love them to make a move on him. Fits the defense. Fits a need. Make it happen!

Greg Jennings - WR - Packers

Sources tell the Green Bay Press-Gazette that the Packers are "strongly in the running" for free agent WR Greg Jennings.

Jennings has seen his market collapse. According to a Tuesday report, the Pack previously offered him a deal averaging $10M per season. Now he's expected to come in somewhere in the $7M per year range. The Vikings are also in the mix, but if the all money is equal, we'd expect him to return to Green Bay.

So...confused....How can you say this after saying this?
Demi wrote:We need to get a good solid young team we can keep together for a decade. Not a good solid team with a 30 year old on the decline this, and a 33 year old on the down side that!

Skol Vikings! Might finally be doing the job right.
Me no understand logic.
