They will need at least a high 3rd to consider it though, imo, so we will see what the rest of the NFL thinks of him.
I've long thought they'd move Waynes, but if only for a 3rd, they are to some degree only making the move in order to free cap space. I suspect they'd get a 4th round compensatory pick if he walks after his 5th year option anyway. I think he'd fetch a 2nd from someone, but if not I'd keep him and get cap relief elsewhere.

I mean he signed to play RT and he was serviceable / adequate when he played RT. Then, due to gaping holes at OG he was forced into playing out of position and in a new position that did not match his strengths. He didn’t complain (at least not publicly as far as I know) but Not surprisingly he failed miserably at his new position

Now he is vilified and will most likely get cut this offseason
I think it'd be reckless to get rid of Remmers. He's a solid RT, and could backup O'Neill and by proxy Reiff.

I get what you're saying, and I agree he got screwed by the move to guard. But in your scenario, he'd be a $6.25 million backup. With our cap situation, that's just not feasible.

A lot is going to depend on who we draft or pick up in free agency. If we land a plug-and-play O-lineman in the draft or pick up a solid FA, Remmers could easily be a cap casualty.

I believe that line of thought is antiquated. First of all, in a sense, there is no such thing as a backup offensive linemen. They pretty much are all going to play at some point in the season. Its not as though you just might need your backup RT to play. And yes, he is getting paid 6 million dollars. That shouldn't necessitate that he start or that he be cut unless there is a better option available for those 6 million dollars (actually 4.5 million dollars, since that what would be saved). If there is, I'm all for it, but you probably aren't going to get a better option than Remmers at RT for that price tag save with a rookie. Save that money on Sendejo or Griff or Rudolph, make up for it with Elflein, O'Neill, or other rookie deals.

I wish this team didn't think it was necessary to play the guys that are getting paid the most. They'd be a much better team if they sat under performing veterans down on the bench, thus 'overpaying' for backups when it helps the team win games.

Antonio Brown was apparently at the Timberwolves game last night. How would everyone feel about trading Rhodes for Brown, with us possibly giving a late round pick too? Salary cap doesn't take a hit then, and we get a real playmaker, that allows Adam to go back to the slot where he belongs.
I am over Rhodes doing his falling over act when he gets burned. I'd much rather have Waynes as our no.1 CB, and develop Hill, Hughes, Mack and possibly another through the draft.

I say we trade Rhodes now regardless, before the rest of the league realises his problems, and his value goes down. Right now i reckon the league sees him as one of the top CB's in the NFL. And when he actually plays, he is.
Let's just put this "salary doesn't take a cap hit" idea to bed.

Brown's cap hit is $22 million for 2019. Rhodes' is $13 million. The difference is $9 million. We have $10 million in cap space.

You're talking about paying $22 million to a 31-year-old WR, plus $18 million in 2020 and $19 million in 2021 when he's 33.

It's a catastrophic cap hit.

Brown ain't going to Minnesota. Wide receiver is the least of their priorities in my opinion.
