That is a position that can be rotated, so it's not like Billings, or whoever, would have to sit a whole year. I doubt any roster in the NFL has too many talented D-linemen. The Detroit Lions had the chance to take Aaron Donald, who seemed to be the consensus BPA when they picked. They didn't take him, because they had Suh and Fairley. A few years later, and they were short on DT talent. The Jets, on the other hand, seemed stocked at DL, but took the BPA last year and have not regretted the move one bit. When evaluating your roster, it can be tough to predict what the team needs will be in 2-3 years. The best path to a solid team is taking the BPA and being patient. I hope that at #23 the BPA is a WR, since it would mesh so well with our team's need, but if it's not, I have no problem taking another position.

Another factor this year, while increases the chances that BPA will indeed be a DL, is that it's one of the top DL draft of all time. It would be a shame to miss out on a chance to get it on it.
If we go DT in the first it has to be a NT like Billings or Chris Jones. We really don't have a backup for Linval and that showed up in yd/att when he was out last year. Floyd and Johnson are 3tech DTs who are not suited for 1tech. Shamar can be a 1tech, when healthy, but he is, at best, just average.

Agreed. I like the Billings pick a lot. He's mocked to the Packers in a few drafts. I'd hate to see him be a stud for them.

Shamar is average, which is really great for a former 7th round pick. Good value for the Vikes there, if he can stay healthy.

As of right now I think the vikings move back to the end of the first round

and draft a defensive guy ... I think we will draft a wide out or two in the draft

I wouldn't mind them picking Jaylon up very early; if the doctors think he will be okay

in one season. I am hoping if we take a offensive guy in round one or two its Derrick Henry

I say that because I think he would turn us into top five defense for five years or so.

I also am ready to move on from A.P. for the following three reasons. He has reached the peak

of what he can do and what his trade value is worth to us. He isn't great at what could make

the vikings a good offense. He has been counter productive to the Vikings numerous times in

the media. Several times wanting to play for the cowboys. Last season complained about the

coaching staff and play calling (I think after Chiefs?).

Minnesota Vikings
While everyone has seemingly mocked a wide receiver to the Minnesota Vikings in Round 1, recent reports by the team say they are not locked on to a receiver at that spot. Yesterday, sources told me the Vikings will consider Robert Nkemdiche in Round 1 if he's still available when they are called to the clock.

I call BS. I don't see this team drafting someone like Robert Nkemdiche with all of his character concerns.

Doesn't that make him the classic Zimmer reclamation project? That's the kind of thing we've been hearing since Zimmer was hired. He fits the athletic profile Zimmer and Spielman seem to like so if they feel he can be trusted and "coached up". maybe they actually would him in R1. I wouldn't say it's likely, but I can't say it would surprise me.

Will the first round pick be a defensive player...

8. Three safeties teams are high on in late first/early second range are Karl Joseph, Von Bell, and Keanu Neal. Big dropoff after. @NFLonFOX
9. Myles Jack is draft's biggest wildcard, still. Could honestly go anywhere 5-to-20 on Thursday. @NFLonFOX

Myles Jack, LB, UCLA
It seems the news on Myles Jack's injured knee continues to get worse. Within the last few minutes, I'm told there are a few teams who are considering requiring Jack to agree to an injury waiver before they draft him.

Teams can start their due diligence now and see if Jack would accept such a request before deciding on whether or not they would draft him. The injury waiver would be a clause that waives any compensation for Jack if he injures or reinjures the knee in question. The teams in question would require this for their short or long term protection, but it should be noted that verbal agreements of this sort are non-binding.
