Hodges traded for 6th-rounder & center Nick Easton
I find it interesting that nobody has wondered if they're going to try to start Easton in two weeks.
With the way Clemmings has been exposed, I wouldn't be shocked if they aren't at least toying with the idea of sliding Mizzle over to RT and putting Berger in at RG.
To me, it makes sense that they are at least giving him an opportunity to impress with a free week after letting a player go who has been getting a significant snaps. Say what you want about Hodges being exposed week one, but he was still getting quite a few snaps.

Hardly an overreaction.PacificNorseWest wrote:
There it is. Was waiting for that first overreaction...You did not disappoint.
They just traded away a starting mike linebacker for an undrafted center who was set to be released today.
Not only was Hodges the team's starter, he is capable of playing EVERY linebacker position. Even if he got demoted, he presented the team with valuable depth. Now, if Barr, Greenway, or Kendricks goes down, it will be up to Audie Cole, Brandon Watts, or Edmond Robinson. As much as I like Cole, he isn't Gerald Hodges.

Berger has been just as bad or worse than ClemmingsDK Sweets wrote:I find it interesting that nobody has wondered if they're going to try to start Easton in two weeks.

At center. He's played well at guard.Pondering Her Percy wrote: Berger has been just as bad or worse than Clemmings

I like the move. Trading a position we had a lot of depth at for something we need badly, and Jeff Davidson is good at getting projects to perform (although I am still not very high on him).
I wouldn't be surprised to see him play this year, as much help as they need. I don't think the move would have been nmade NOW if there was no chance of him playing fairly soon.

So no more Hodges or Mauti sad to see them both go. Wish them both the best of luck.
Hodges was 3rd on the team in tackles. I just hope Barr stays healthy.

Barr 26
Hodges 20

Hmmm, they got this done early in the week. Maybe we'll see a reshuffled offensive line against Kansas City?
What does this mean for Shepherd? Who's the odd man out.
edit* assuming they aren't going to keep that many offensive linemen.

Isn't this what we drafted Kendricks for? Like I have said before it time to quit drafting these projects. If Hodges was good enough to play off the bat, he would have been in there. How long has he been on the team? Anyways, Kendricks hopefully will work out since he was drafted to do so. Now not later. Glad to see the FO not sitting on their hands. A good way to get better during the season. Hopefully.Pondering Her Percy wrote:Exactly. That's what I said above. Kendricks has gradually outplayed him this year

Don't hate on my Buckeyes. Some of the best Vikings went to Ohio State.

Is he good at guard or is how he's been playing at center starting to show his age?DK Sweets wrote:At center. He's played well at guard.

A lot of time these players are traded for because even though they are going to be waived you have no idea who is going to put a claim in for them. There is a good possibility that he would have ended up on some other team from a waiver claim. Hence the trade.

Maybe trade Shepherd and Patterson to Philadelphia for M. Kendricks?

Does us picking up Easton mean they aren't expecting Sully back for awhile?

Really reading into things here, but maybe Hodges wasn't that well liked in the locker room?
