Another stat that is pretty meaningless without context. Just because you may have a good TOP doesn't automatically equate to a lot of points. You could have a team that runs the ball a lot and takes them 3 downs most of the time to get a first down which rarely stops the clock and add to TOP. Then you could have a pass heavy team that throws down the field a lot eating up big chunks of yards per play and scoring quickly (think last year's Denver team) and because they throw a lot there are incomplete passes that stop the clock, which of course doesn't add to TOP. When you are talking only a difference of 1:16 between 16th place and 26th, it's not a big difference and as far as I'm concerned, rather meaningless.MusicCityViking wrote:The Vikings ranked 26th in time of possession this season, averaging only 28:45 of possession per game.
