I was surprised he wasn't cut in the offseason. Loads of potential, but inconsistent play and that off the fied stuff...Just not worth it. Now I wish they didn't waste reps on him all offseason/preseason.

Has Minnesota added anyone to the roster/promote from the practice squad yet?

He was suspended so he wasn't taking up a spot.

Here's an interesting Simpson stat ... in 2013, he caught 48 passes. But he was targeted 100 times.

That's beyond horrible.

By comparison, CP caught 45 passes on 77 targets. And he was a rookie who barely knew what route to run. Greg Jennings, who was nearly invisible to Christian Ponder, caught 68 passes on 106 targets.

Who needs Jerome Simpson?

Nice stat, Kapp. Great to have you back, as well.

The Vikings have signed WR Charles Johnson to the 53-man roster off of the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad. Johnson joined the Browns from Green Bay’s practice squad on October 12, 2013. He went through training camp and the preseason with the Browns in 2014, appearing in all four preseason games, totaling six catches for 65 yards. Johnson, a 7th-round pick (#216 overall) by Green Bay out of Grand Valley State, played under Offensive Coordinator Norv Turner and Quarterbacks Coach Scott Turner in Cleveland last season.

His Pro Day workout:
6'2 215
Johnson ran the 40-yard dash in 4.38 and 4.39 seconds. He had a 4.31-second short shuttle and 6.96-second three-cone drill. He had a 39 1/2-inch vertical jump and an 11-foot-1 broad jump. He performed 14 lifts of 225 pounds on the bench press.

Not that it means much but a lot of Packer fans wanted to keep Johnson.

Yes, thanks for all the help! I liked the PPO site, but this is home. And I usually only have time enough to read the posts here (and Funky's).

Vikings signed WR Charles Johnson off the Browns practice squad.
Johnson played under OC Norv Turner in Cleveland last season and knows his system. It's a nice landing spot, but Johnson is no higher than the No. 5 receiver on the depth chart. With WR Rodney Smith (hamstring) questionable, Johnson could be active this week.
It's not a huge signing by any means but I like it. Johnson was creating a lot of buzz this offseason and already knows Turners offense. He's freakishly athletic and has a lot of potential. He could be a guy that could help us a bit down the road

Good riddance... I've defended the guy before, but to hell with him.

This leaves us with three WR's who have caught an NFL pass: Jennings, Patterson and Jarius Wright (the second coming of Kelly Campbell).

Thielen, Smith and Johnson have a collective zero NFL catches.

Good points. But you know what? Even if Simpson's stats were good, I'm beyond tired of his idiocy off the field. The guy can't stay out of trouble.
