Nice job.Pseudo Everything wrote:One revised attempt at the final 53
I think Norv will want a FB on the roster so I'll predict that Felton makes the team and Banyard becomes the unfortunate victim of a numbers game. He may end up on the practice squad (he's still eligible, right?). It's possible they could carry 4 HBs and a FB but that seems very unlikely.
I'm going the other way on this one. I think Reisner earned his spot on the team and Ford will be cut.Riesner had a good camp but I don’t see room for him now that Ford is healthy even though Fors is probably still a few weeks away from being up to speed on everything. Ford’s upside is too high and he’s not PS eligible.
I doubt it. I think they'd lose him if they did.Usually don’t carry 5 DTs. Would we expose Stephen to waivers?
I think it is, mainly because he just couldn't stay healthy enough this offseason and preseason for Zimmer to get a really good look at him.Did Crocker show that he still has enough in the tank for another year in the NFL? I assume so. Sendejo or Sanford for the last spot. Sanford doesn’t seem like a good fit for Zimmer’s scheme and those quad injuries can linger. The Sanford Era might be over.

Re: 53 Man Roster Prediction
Leaving Felton off the final 53 is probably a bit of a reach but I'm thinking that the limited times that Norv wants a blocking back in the backfield that he'll go with Asiata/Ellison in that role. Position flexibility might trump what Felton brings as just a blocker.Mothman wrote:I think Norv will want a FB on the roster so I'll predict that Felton makes the team and Banyard becomes the unfortunate victim of a numbers game. Can't argue that Reisner did more to earn a spot than Ford. However ... just can't see Speilman letting Ford walk, especially now that he's healthy. He's 6'6" 255, with good speed, very athletic and has good hands. Got excited about his potential with his 4 receptions against Detroit in the last game last year. Would love to see what Rudolph and Ford could do in a 2 TE set. Both tall athletic guys who can stretch the field.I'm going the other way on this one. I think Reisner earned his spot on the team and Ford will be cut.
If we did waive him, our luck the Packers would claim him and he'd be Gilbert Brown Part II (a very slimmed-down version of the gravedigger) .I doubt it. I think they'd lose him if they did.
Re: 53 Man Roster Prediction
That's possible but I think Felton can do more than just block. He just hasn't been asked to do more very often in his NFL career. I'm also not sure just how limited the FB's role will be in the offense. They haven't used a lot of two back sets in the preseason but does that necessarily mean they won't use a FB more extensively in the regular season? It will be interesting to see what they choose to do.Pseudo Everything wrote:Leaving Felton off the final 53 is probably a bit of a reach but I'm thinking that the limited times that Norv wants a blocking back in the backfield that he'll go with Asiata/Ellison in that role. It's the "classic" matchup between the guy with the size and athleticism to make big plays and the hard-working underdog who lacks the measurables but carves out a role for himself. Blocking and knowledge of the playbook could be factors as well. Can't argue that Reisner did more to earn a spot than Ford. LOL! That sounds about right. If we did waive him, our luck the Packers would claim him and he'd be Gilbert Brown Part II (a very slimmed-down version of the gravedigger).
Re: 53 Man Roster Prediction
If Shemar Stephen were cut over Fred Evans, I'd have the first real problem so far with this coaching staff. I highly doubt that will happen with the way Zimmer has raved about him

Re: 53 Man Roster Prediction
Yeah that would be pretty shocking, if there's one guy who played his way onto the team it's Stephen.saint33 wrote:If Shemar Stephen were cut over Fred Evans, I'd have the first real problem so far with this coaching staff. I highly doubt that will happen with the way Zimmer has raved about him

Re: 53 Man Roster Prediction
I thought both Joe Banyard and Bradley Randle should have made the team over Asiata last season. Banyard will be screwed again and someone will pick him up. He will become another Jordan Toddman - another player we should have kept too.

I've been saying this for weeks, but I don't think many (if anybody) agrees...mrc44 wrote: I dont think he has been impressive at all, he has done nothing that Felton can't do. I would take Felton and Banyard over assiata

Exactly. Why have a power back, when Jerome can do that work? I see nothing in Asiata. Nothing.DKSweets wrote:I've been saying this for weeks, but I don't think many (if anybody) agrees...
Re: 53 Man Roster Prediction
Ellison is another guy I wonder why we keep.. he popped the ball up a few times and created some picks, last year...
I would rather see someone else get the spot ..

Re: 53 Man Roster Prediction
blocking is the answer to both players, that's why they make the team. Probably the two best pass blockers out of all the skill positions players on the team

Now that Toby's gone, Asiata draws ire.
