Is Greg Childs on His Way Back?

Re: Is Greg Childs on His Way Back?
Out of curiosity, why would they keep him around and pay him for two years only to cut him in March? I'm assuming it wasn't just to be nice.

Free rehab/courtesy and/or perhaps he just got evaluated. Or maybe it was tied to his contract.maembe wrote:Out of curiosity, why would they keep him around and pay him for two years only to cut him in March? I'm assuming it wasn't just to be nice.

I am fine with the move to release him. They gave him 3 full seasons to get over the injury and produce. At somepoint that roster spot needs to be productive. I think the liklihood of Joe Webb coming back probably just increased with this move.

Greg Childs - WR - Free Agent
Ex-Vikings WR Greg Childs passed through waives unclaimed.
The "risk" to put in a waiver claim would've been his scheduled bare-minimum salary of $570,000 with no guarantees, so the fact that he fetched zero interest suggests the NFL has thrown in the towel on Childs. With bad knees and no catches through two pro seasons, Childs' career is likely over before it began.

Unfortunate.

He'll probably need to go play in the CFL or equivalent for a year or two and prove that he can stay healthy for anyone to give him a shot.
