but when a team blitzes 80% of the time in a preseason game, its not going to be pretty for us
Yes, because we have a scrub QB. The top half of NFL Qbs who dissect this stuff. Someone has to be open when they're sending that many. But not us. Because of our QB. (Or maybe our offensive coordinator?)
but win or lose I usually feel like I get a good return on my time invested being a fan of this team
And some of us are sick of it. We expect more! I think Comman Man on kfan put it best, Low expectations, high aspirations. You can only put up with this crap so long. Some people will just be happy we have a team, and support them 100% no matter what they do or how they do it. Others like myself think we should hold them to a higher standard. We shouldn't be happy being average, at some point you need to asking more of them then simply being an NFL team and over a decade being .500. At some point I want a damn super bowl. Maybe a few hundred pabst blue ribbons from now I'll free differently, but I hope not.
The one thing that I would disagree with is that these kinds of "fans" are no different in their real life than their internet life. I am proud to be a homer it beats the hell out of whatever they are
I'm a fan of this team that's been on this forum for eight years longer than you have who asks more out of this team, from ownership on down....tbh this is the only forum I post on. I don't run around the internet talking about how great my team is, or how Ponder is the next purple messiah, or whatever. Part of it is venting, part of it is stating my opinion, but there are dozens of other places you can go if all you want is Kumbaya, our team is great, super bowl here we come. Less than four months from a *decade* on this forum. And we're exactly at .500 since I joined. Are we ever going to move beyond that? I expect so. But it might take a few years, and a new QB. If you want to pat yourself and other "fans" on the back, go ahead. But don't get worked up because other fans want to discuss the team, good, bad or indifferent. If we had a couple rings and probowlers that were making it for reasons other than a half dozen guys dropped out, I'd be more positive. I call the team how I see it. Regardless of my affiliation as a fan. If we were 16-0 and ready for another run, I'd be more positive. If we were 4-12 I'd be more negative. I'm a pragmitist, or maybe a realist. So sue me!!

I dont know about you but I dont think most of us are calling Ponder the messiah and saying we are winning a super bowl this year I just think its that people would rather talk about the good than the bad, Look at things on the bright side instead of nag about every little thing. We are well aware Ponder doesnt look great but id rather be optimistic about him than saying hes a no good turd capable of nothing. Calling you a realist would be extremely kind hearted...

Have you always had this same attitude/outlook?
If so, I find it hard to believe so many people are still griping about it. It obviously isn't helping. Kinda like your griping about the Vikings.

But it all still goes on just the same.
You gripe about the Vikings, and then people gripe about you. I haven't figured out which is more annoying yet.

Probably the latter; I'd rather read about Vikings (good or bad) than about you, Demi. No offense.

Tired of reading about you!
Overall, I have a very positive outlook, but even the most positive-outlook-having fan should have been a little frustrated by that Bills game. It's not fun seeing your starting offense get owned. Preseason or not--it's not fun! It's especially not fun when we're all excited to see our improved offensive attack! Hopefully we'll see some positive things against the Niners. It'll be a good test. I'm looking forward to it. If we get owned again...expect more sadness.

Why is it that Ponder is hardly playing? Okay I get that he had only one series in the Houston game, they wanted to give Cassell more time to get familiar with this new offense. But vs the Bills he basically got 1 quarter! Peyton Manning played the whole half in the Broncos game (which is fairly common for starters in game 2), probably because he is working with a new WR. Brady threw 12 passes in the Patriots game, Ponder has thrown 11 total passes in 2 games. I guess he doesn't need the work, like those scrubs Manning and Brady! I wouldn't be shocked if this offense is out of synch in the opener in Detroit, unless they plan on starting Cassell, he's getting plenty of work.
Purplemania wrote:This is what truly ticks me off the most. I try not to take preseason games too serious, but when you are not very good, you need reps. That doesn't mean play the entire game, but if during those moments you do play and you suck like the suckiest bunch ever, why should you come out? I mean, what the fudge!??? At least PLAY UNTIL THERE'S SOME POSITIVES!
I agree with these guys, that's been my biggest gripe the whole preseason. If they stink it up in the 3rd game they'll still sit out the 4th simply because it's "standard operating procedure".

allday1991 wrote:I find Demi to be quite right, every time the 'negative' talks starts there is a group of people who always throw the troll word and also that people are thinking irrationally.
That's because those people don't know what the word troll means. They think anyone that disagrees with their POV is a troll, or anyone that bursts their Ponder love bubble.
Purple bruise wrote:You nailed that and how very true it is. Read their daily posts and especially the game posts. You called a troll a troll except I do not find it funny it is quite sad that they try and pass themselves off as fans and then scream good/fan, bad/fan whenever they are "called out" for it.

You're basically saying, "I don't like when people judge which fans are good/bad, now listen to me tell you which are good/bad. Ohhh and here's a hint ... the ones that love Ponder just as much as myself are good, the ones that don't are yucky."
The Breeze wrote:What rubs people is the tone and heavy sarcasm incluced in the constant, to the point of being redundant, drone of people who just can't accept the FO's decisions. Whether or not those decisions pan out is the point of watching the games in the first place. Ragging and nagging about them constantly when it won't change anything is a bit like the definition of insanity.
Hey look at that, the guy lecturing others on sarcasm is one of the most sarcastic people here. But it's the latter part of your message I find more ironic. Our collective ragging and nagging is probably what helped get Childress out of here sooner, you're welcome (sorry Melanie xD), but how many Lombardi's has your constant positivity brought us? What's the definition of that again? Oh that's right, insanity. I'll take projection for $500 Alex.

Oh look, it's the guy that doesn't like judgmental people still judging people xD. Whatever we are? The word you're looking for is realistic. I still get a kick out of "positive" fans who go negative on other fans. But yes, we're irrational when we're negative about a struggling football team.

You two are sick of it huh. The team went from 3-13 to 10-6 and made the play-offs. They are rebuilding the team. No one has predicted a Super Bowl or having Ponder make the Pro bowl (if so, show me).
Talk about sick of it. Getting on this board in a great mood, positive outlook hoping for the best and not expecting to much more than last year from the team. I, like others, know that this is at least a three year project and so for most of us, we have been pleasantly suprized by the team's accomplichment from last years record to a very solid draft.
What is truly strange for me is reading you and your ilk's constant negative posts with little or no basis and certainly NO better solutions just constant negative crap spew from you two.
Anyway, enjoy your two's empty negative remarks, and I will follow the positive upbeat approach. Let us see who will be right or wrong about the team.

It's the Pre-Season and it's a fine line to walk. The regular season is long and brutal, no need to go in already hurting, so it is what it is, you don't see much work for the regulars - good bad or otherwise.
This is the time to see where the issues lie in the back-ups and margin players and figure how to best fill out the roster. Negatives, there are plenty but mostly not worth getting worked up over.
Positives, it's the Pre-Season.

Why thank you, but I'm fine. It took me a minute, but I've moved on. I have to admit though, Frazier and the 2011 Vikings had me missing my bald man just a little bit. Just a tad.

The 2010
and 2011 Vikings majorly underachieved, but 2011 was just freaking depressing. I got to see our only win at home that season, though. So, I suppose that helped. I got to see a
little something to be proud of.

I hope y'all enjoyed your first Childress-free season, because I was furious for most of it.

I'll probably have nightmares about blowing huge halftime leads now.

Thanks for that!

I enjoyed it but, (with apologies to Reignman) I don't think we fans had anything to do with getting Childress replaced.

So in three years from now, if the team is not rebuilt and not a 'contender' for the superbowl, will you finally get a bit fed up as a fan? Or will you just start saying o we are just rebuilding again no need to think of the negatives.

More garbage from Ponder 3rd week in. First play, AD in, play action, GOING DEEP! Here we....idiotic patented Ponder rainbow lob lands three yards in front of receiver. *yawn*. Noodle arm back at it.
Number of inaccurate passes. Even some receptions where a yard too high. Pocket presence non-existent. Weeee.
Ponder won't finish the season. Lucky if he makes it out of the bye as the starter.

Josh Robinson got killed by nobody receivers. I'm hoping Rhodes gets the start as my faith in Robinson went way down after last night.
