I'm not expecting him to suddenly emerge as a top MLB or even to as the long term solution at the position but if he's right and it is the best fit for him, maybe he'll do a good job. It's a possibility many don't even seem to be considering...
Of course, there's always that outside chance. Maybe it will happen. Everyone is certainly crossing their fingers that Henderson will be able to fill the biggest hole on defense going into this offseason.

He has gained 10 lbs. of muscle (245) is 6-3 and only 26 years old. Not to sound like a mindless, homer, Zombie...but I have very high expectations for him :D

Yeah, it's hard to imagine now how everyone thought MLB was such a priority going into this offseason when they had the solution right under their noses.

Keeping my fingers crossed...

Admittedly, my expectations for him aren't high but I do think he has a chance to be a good MLB. He certainly seems to want the job so I get the impression he's going to work very hard to prove himself. He's probably tired of getting one year contracts!

As you said, fingers crossed...

I think that the coaches have some faith in him and wanted to bolster the lb corp with the addition of Bishop.
This might be similar to replacing Birk when the organization had high hopes (which came to fruition) with his replacement Sullivan, who was a late round pick but was already part of the team. :D

I don't care how angry Henderson claims to be, Michael Mauti, if healthy, is the future of that LB corps. I just have a gut feeling Henderson will start Week 1 regardless just because he has more experience than his competition. Assuming that Bishop moves to the Will, that is.

Using "if healthy" and "the future of" in the same sentence is a bit of a stretch when discussing anyone with the injury history that Michael Mauti is dealing with. It's going to take some real luck for that to pan out. Mauti is a genuine LB talent, but he didn't go undrafted until the seventh round because 32 teams thought his long term chances of success were very high.

Yes, if he can get back to 100%, and if he can stay healthy, he could have a great career. Unfortunatley, those are two very large "ifs". As for keeping my fingers crossed, nobody is higher on my wish list than Michael Mauti.

Too much "double checking" causes that plus he is getting a big head anyway. My Packer friends do not seem to like/appreciate it so I will go with it for as long as possible

EH isn’t an Urlacher (well Urlacher in his prime Urlacher) but from the stuff I’ve read he is actually better suited to play Mike than Will. There was some discussion of that even last year when Brinkley was stinking up the joint. There was an analysis on Daily Norseman that cites his coverage as being better (but not great) than Bishop’s. So while EH might not be a gamer MLB vs. some future to be named draft pick, he might still be the best option on the current roster.

At this point I think the best outcome for us is that Greenway maintains his elite level of play, Bishop is better than EH at Will and EH is better than JB at Mike. We still lack a game changer at the position, but the rush defense should be stronger that it was last year and at worst the coverage situation is probably going to be the same as last year. (barring injury)

Considering that it is entirely possible that EH is better than Brikley at Mike you have to consider it a solid performance by the scoutning department in finding an undrafted talent. Of course this is offset by the 3rd round pick that was wasted on Brinkley.

Brinkley was actually a 5th round pick and I wouldn't call that a wasted pick since he was a solid backup for a few years and a serviceable starter last season.

I think you have a point about Henderson and I'm interested to see how he'll perform at MLB. He's not a bad player and part of his problem has been a lack of discipline. If he plays smarter, he could be a good MLB.

Bercich said earlier that EH lost the nickel job to Brinkley once he was given a shot. That should tell them all they need to know about EH. Especially after letting Brinkley walk.
