I'd say Rice and Harvin both improved under his tutelage.
I think that has more to do with all the mediocre-to-marginal WR talent the team has seen over the years.

I just knew you would say that ! I get the impression you work for the team or something because you are always towing the company line , at least you are predictable and consistent . I for one think they are making some good decisions but also some really bad ones too .

Hardly. I've been extremely critical of the team at times over the years. At this point, I just pay a lot of attention to the Vikes and consequently, I manage my expectations based on what I read and where they are in their development. I'm also a firm believer in keeping an open mind and giving people a chance, which is why I haven't been quick to condemn decisions like going with Frazier, Spielman or Ponder.

I know it's not what you want to hear but they weren't going to sign Jackson or Garcon to the deals those players ultimately received and they weren't going to trade for Bowe. Right or wrong, that's where the Vikes are right now in the rebuilding process and it just doesn't make sense to make that trade for a player like Bowe. Jackson? That might have made sense but it was pretty clear they weren't going that route so I didn't bother hoping for it.

I don't doubt it but an awful lot of the decisions they've made over the past year are decisions that, I believe, require more time before we can determine if they were good or bad. Some, like signing Carlson, look pretty bad at this point but even that one could conceivably work out over the next two years. I wouldn't put money on it because I suspect he'll be a bust as a free agent signing for the Vikes. :)

If you think I'm towing the company line, that's fine. I just call 'em like I see 'em but I'm not sure how pointing out that the mediocre-to-marginal WR talent the team has had in recent years has a lot to do with sloppy route-running or a lack of yards after catch. That sounds more like a criticism of the Vikes (which is how it was intended). Players run routes, not coaches, and if the routes are being run poorly, the first place to look is at the player.

Sometimes it is...

If that's what you want... I think reasonable disagreement and the discussions that stem from it are an important part of this board but if you don't want me to respond to your posts simply because we see things differently, I'll oblige you. However, if all anybody here ever did was respond to people who agreed with them. I think this would be a very dull place.

Now THAT is a statement I agree on ! I was wrong about not commenting on each others posts , discussion is always good even if its of differing views . I want to apologize for my hasty over reaction .
