T.J. Conley - P - Free Agent

Vikings waived P T.J. Conley.

He was no longer needed after the Vikings drafted Jeff Locke.

The Vikings have signed CB Jacob Lacey.

Lacey (5-10, 177) was undrafted out of Oklahoma State in 2009. But he made the Indianapolis Colts' roster and appeared in every game as a rookie. In 54 career games with Indianapolis (2009 to '11) and Detroit (2012), Lacey has six interceptions and 25 passes defended.

That sounds like a pretty good pick up to me. Does he have any glaring issues?

Checkered injury history with his knee and foot and head (concussions). Decent in run support but historically a "burn victim." Though from what I read he had improved in that department until the subluxation of his knee cap that ended his season last year. Veteran depth that prefers to play the slot. He started nine games for the Lions last season, recording 36 tackles, four passes defensed, and an interception.

Has anyone signed Woodson yet? I think a one year deal with him would be a good thing, considering our depth in the DB.

I'm not so sure. Patterson is more likely to return kicks. Josh Robinson was a good punt returner for UCF, so I think he'll get a close look if Sherels is gone.

Since we're talking about wideouts the Fl st kid Rodney Smith might turn out to be a great pick up. I can't say I've watched him but from what I read and seen on film he is a beast. athletic, good hands, 6-5 if I'm correct. Given they're offense was more of a option based with Manuel I read that they rotated a lot of wr that is the reason why Rodney did not get the spotlight. Im interested in seeing what this kid can do in camp, rooting for him. Last year it was NOTRE DAME this year it was FLORIDA STATE, I'm sure Leon Sandcastle loved our draft. Any more info on Rodney Smith would be appreciAted. SKOL VIKES

Vikings are a more stable franchise with a great veteran presence. I think he could be something special in the right hands, could be a good grab if it happens.
Really wanted Vikes to Draft Blackmon last yr. But given the chance he has and is already throwing up the red flag is not a good sign. Im all for second chances though and have seen players turn things around and become stars. This news is just way early in his career. But I agree, if he did get cut Would love to see him in purple. Honestly though given what Speilman an Frazier are trying to do with the culture in minn, I don't see that happening.

4.5 speed for a guy who is 6'4" 225 ain't bad. Something tells me he'll be more than just a red zone threat and will start his career as a much more polished receiver than Cordarelle Patterson.

There's some speculation he could convert to tight end if he adds another 20-25 pounds. Good blocker from what I read/saw. In a season or two be the Aaron Hernandez to Rudolph's Gronk. He's a long-shot to contribute but he has potential.

It seems more likely to me that he would make it as a receiver than bulk up that much. Either way, as you said, he has potential.

The Vikings have signed OT Brandon Keith, 6'5", 343 lbs. He was a 2008 7th round pick (#225) of the Arizona Cardinals out of Northern Iowa. Played four season in Arizona and started 9 games in 2010 and 11 games in 2011. He was an unrestricted free agent last year and apparently out of football for the 2012 season.

Keith will provide much needed depth at a position that sorely needed it. I am still hoping there is a chance to move DeMarcus Love to guard to see what he can do, but after this draft, and the fact that Fusco is going to be given every opportunity, it is foolish for me to hope for such a thing.

True, the Vikings badly need depth at OT, but whether it will be Brandon Keith providing it remains to be seen. Nothing to lose by giving him a look.

I agree with you about DeMarcus Love. They've carried him on the roster for two years, but we've seen very little of him and we have no idea if he's even a natural tackle. It would be interesting to see whether he could win one of the starting guard spots. The Vikings didn't do much this draft to address the offensive line, although the guys they did pick up in the last two rounds could compete for roster spots.

I wonder where Brandon Lloyd & Karlos Dansby will end up. I wouldn't mind seeing either in purple.
