Just my two cents but if the Vikings signed Ryan tannehill, let’s say last offseason and cousins didn’t exist, I’d have an AWFULLY hard time seeing any fan being ok with that. And I’m not sure how many “clutch plays”. Tannehill is making. He threw for under 100 yards in each of his first two playoff games. Henry is just so dominant that nobody can stop him. And the more I watched that titans team, the more I realized that I don’t think our run blocking is nearly as good as some think. I just think dalvin cook is that elusive. Derrick Henry is not elusive at all but has giant gaps that open for holes. It’s opportunity cost. It’s not about Kirk vs whoever else. It’s is he worth that contract in this offense. And I don’t think he is. You can find a QB that can run play action for much cheaper. His contract should be given to a guy that can extend plays, make clutch plays, and carry a team when needed. It’s not worth giving it to a statue pocket passer that’s inconsistent in clutch games. Let him play out the last year of that boat anchor contract then decide. The biggest mistake they can do is extend him or Zimmer right now.
The Vikings need to pick an identity and stick with it. If this is a run first, strong defense strategy then you simply don’t pay a QB that type of money unless he’s a guy like Wilson who can make do with a shoddy o-line.

PHP, I've made two long posts about Cousins and the subject of mobility, and they're solid takes. He's not a statue, but he has no escapability. Not talking about designed rollouts ... he's good on those, great to his left. I'm talking about escaping pressure on a straight dropback. It's not all his fault, but it's the truth. It's something the Vikings have to account for. And as for the mobile QB argument. I mean, there are plenty of pocket passers in this league that are legitimate statues in the pocket and don’t extend plays. Brady, Brees, rivers, Ryan, Goff, Jimmy G, etc. But when you look at their successful years, did any of them have as bad of a pass blocking OL as cousins had this year? Not that I can remember. And they have all had huge contracts at one point or another.
And on a side note, Rodgers missed a wide open Allison on a 4 man rush and took a sack instead. Just saying.

Well Jimmy G who I'm not impressed with at all takes a ton of CAP space not a rookie deal and I think he's about to take his team to a Super Bowl. Having a dominate defense helps also. I'm not talking our 2017 D who many think was dominate but a D like the 49ers put together this year. Ask Rodgers about there D. They made him crumble also. He even fumbled. Threw a pick also. That's playing D. It's not over yet because there is still time left.
