This, but I think Smith is a much better fit for our offense than Vick, and I have never really liked Vick as a QB (athlete, yes, QB, no). Maybe we should also look at Matt Flynn or maybe TJ Yates?Demi wrote:![]()
Let Ponder finish hanging himself and look into Vick/Smith/some random rookie in the offseason.

The difference between men is not lack of strength, not lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.

LOL, this is silly. He has sucked badly, but "conduct unbecoming"?. C'mon man...CalVike wrote:Here's the thing. At this point I could care less if Webb or MBT are the guy long term. Ponder has to be benched for conduct unbecoming a NFL QB. Continuing to play him violates the integrity of the game.

Ponder is to the vikes what Sanchez is to the jets. But Sanchez got benched.

Same with what gabbert is to the jaguars. He got benched also! I wish management would think the same way other teams do...9man wrote:Ponder is to the vikes what Sanchez is to the jets. But Sanchez got benched.

More on Ponder, from Tom Powers of the Pioneer Press

The thing is that no one needed him to be a hero. All he had to do was manage the game. With the way Peterson was running, Ponder basically had to avoid making any costly, oh-my-God mistakes. He couldn't, and an otherwise stalwart team effort was wasted.
"For what this game means to the team, the state, with how Adrian played, it's disappointing to go out and throw two interceptions,'' Ponder lamented. "There's a couple more plays besides that I wish I could have got back. All I can do is come back to work tomorrow and try to get better."

Yet there are hard-working veterans in the locker room who are nearing the end of their careers...Can Frazier keep selling Ponder to those fellows? ...
"I don' think it will be a tough sell," Frazier insisted. "These guys are teammates that want the same thing. They know we can win with the personnel that we have. We've shown that we can. We just have to do a few things better."

Sorry if this was posted before, analysis from PFF leading into today's game.

Can Ponder Stretch a Young Secondary?' In just his second year out of Florida State, Christian Ponder has been underwhelming. He’s recorded just one 300-yard passing game this year compared with two games where he failed to surpass 70 yards. Much of that comes down to Ponder’s reluctance to throw deep. He’s attempted deep throws (over 20 yards in the air) just 24 times this year, completing a league-low six. Three quarterbacks have more deep completions than Ponder has attempts. He’s struggled with his accuracy on the balls he has thrown, as just 29.2% of those 24 have made it to the receiver (six caught, one dropped).
Re: Check Down Charlie
Well there is no doubt Ponder cost us the game today with his mistakes. That takes nothing away from another abysmal performance by our receiving corps. Aikman did knock Ponder, but he knocked our receivers Just as much if not more. At one point he said Joe Montana couldn't complete a pass to these guys.
Ponder could improve drastically, but we still have no hope of going far without a better group of pass catchers. I whole heartedly believe That Ponder has no chance at being better with the current crew.
That being said I do agree that we really need to look for a viable replacement for Ponder. I really hope the staff is willing to look elsewhere.
I still say we need to go hard after a #1 receiver to give Ponder the tools he needs. I also believe we need to bring in someone who will challenge Ponder for the job.

Spielman will literally not let Frazier take Ponder out.

Frazier sets the depth chart though, and makes game day decisions. Spielman doesn't have the power to fire coaches without Zygi's say so either. So not sure what Spielman could possibly do if Frazier did bench him during a game.yezzir wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivZWafc ... ata_player

Re: Check Down Charlie
Spielman has more power. Did you watch the video? Pretty interesting. The whole point of obtaining a GM was to have someone with a committed plan. Frazier cant override Spielman when it comes to this years QB plan.Demi wrote: Frazier sets the depth chart though, and makes game day decisions. Hahaha. This thead is never gonna die as long as check down charlie is the QB for my team. I was smart enough to go golfing today instead of watching this joke of a QB. Check down: 12 for 25 for 119 yards with 1 td and 2 int for a passer rating of 41.91. Just what I though would happen. All you can do is laugh.

Re: Check Down Charlie
I know. I feel sorry for AD. We have proved time and time again that we can consistently run for more than 100 yards in a game and still lose. (except for Favre 1st year). Any why is that? Cuz we had a sniff of a real QB. I have said all along AD can run for infinity yards and we will still lose until we get the most important position on the team filled.Boon wrote: Yeah a loss, but you missed another monster from adrian. They said it... Frazier is afraid that Webb will go in and do a good job in relief, and he doesn't want the QB controversy because the directive is to play Ponder at all costs, even if it means tanking the season.yezzir wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivZWafc ... ata_player

Effin' crazy stuff for a team that was in playoff contention a couple of games ago.
