Nice to add to the bears misery
Clearly we need upgraded WRs that can hold onto the ball
As always we need an OL upgrade
All in all, given the disruption caused by AP, i think Zim n Teddy did pretty well

I know what you mean. But after thinking about it, there really is no better way to end a season than with a win.Mothman wrote:Congrats to the Vikes for improving their record over 2013's finish by 1.5 wins but I thought that was a pretty unimpressive victory against a barely competent team with one foot (collectively) out the door. I was hoping for a better finish to the season. At least they got the win! Some Vikings played very hard (Asiata, Cole, Hodges) but overall, that was pretty lackluster football. The Bears couldn't get out of their own way and the Vikes still couldn't put the game away until the final minutes of the 4th quarter.
Listening to Stockton and Quinn, I felt like I was watching the Senior Bowl. It was obvious they came into this game between two teams with no playoff hopes intent on making youth and future potential talking points. They were talking up young players even on unimpressive plays.
Congrats to Matt Forte for breaking an NFL record. I've always liked him.

Anyone listening to the press conference? Zim choked up a bit talking about Mr. Rhodes

Did you catch any of the Browns/Ravens? Not an exciting contest either. Looks like there were pitiful games all up and down the chart.Mothman wrote:Yeah, I suppose I am but that wasn't a particularly fine example of what the NFL has to offer.

Don't hate on my Buckeyes. Some of the best Vikings went to Ohio State.

I don't think Jeffery cares for physical play. Marshall can handle it, but Jeffery was doing a lot of looking at the refs today.S197 wrote:It will be interesting to see what the Vikings do with Cole as he'll be in a contract year in 2015. He looked solid in pass defense and pretty good in run defense (I did see one missed tackle). He's obviously on the field because of injuries but I think part of today was taking a look at some of the younger guys, the potential "building blocks." I think it's time to move away from Greenway, his $7.1MM cap hit will be too much next year unless he restructures. I think between Cole and Hodges, you have a good fight for one starter position and also some depth. MLB still needs to be addressed.
On another note, I'm glad this officiating crew let the secondary play more physical. Rhodes did a great job shadowing Jeffrey, who only had 2 catches, neither of which were really of big impact. I kind've wish Marshall played today, I would have liked to see how Zimmer would have dealt with the duo after the first game.
Speaking of the refs, they had THREE touchdown call reversed on review. Not a good showing. The pass to Jeffery was a particularly heinous missed call. He wasn't close to getting both feet in bounds.

Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.

Glad to end the season an a positive not. Now it's time to get better!

Oh, and good point about Jeffrey.

That was a pretty brutal game to sit outside for, but I'm thankful I was able to go, and we won!

Honestly, that was a pretty anti-climatic game. But hey, we won. 7-9 was the record I was expecting at the beginning of the season. So, as far as I am concerned, this team met my expectation.

Was your prediction before the injuries and suspensions? If it was, I would think this team exceeded your expectations.HardcoreVikesFan wrote:Honestly, that was a pretty anti-climatic game. Audie Cole stepped up!!!
I could have been wrong about him. He looked great today. Of course, this is only one game, but he certainly caught my eye as someone who at the very least should be in a real competition for a starting spot.

Cole impressed a lot of people, and he called the plays. One think that worries me is, he looks undersized. If he bulks up, he could play middle LB. Maybe draft an inside LB too.

Speaking of Cole, how did he play in the second half? I wasn't able to watch. He was all over the field in the first quarter. I was like..."Why the heck hasn't he been starting over Brinkley again?"PurpleKoolaid wrote:Cole impressed a lot of people, and he called the plays. One think that worries me is, he looks undersized. He played in the second half. Cole had a good game yesterday. He showed a lot of hustle.dead_poet wrote: Speaking of Cole, how did he play in the second half? I wasn't able to watch.
