It's tough, especially because success or failure in those jobs seems heavily dependent on getting a good match between coach and personnel.

why not? This is a team one season removed from being a strong playoff team. They have a great running game, a strong offensive line, a solid set of weapons in the passing game and a talented young defense. This team is perfectly set up for a rookie QB to succeed. And Bridgewater has all the talent to step into this situation and make plays while limiting his mistakes. He doesn't have to be an elite QB day one to make this team elite.

Now keep in mind, I'm not saying he will make the Texans elite. But I certainly won't be shocked if they have a quick turnaround next year.

Sure. The Vikings have so few holes to fill, they should give away a couple of mid-rounders to trade up.

Trading up is ALWAYS a huge risk and usually a mistake. Even when it works out you still pay a hefty price, just look at Atlanta, sure Julio Jones is great but spending so much on him means your defense completely falls apart. Oh look he's also on IR and hurt, all your eggs in one basket sort of thing.

Yes, we could lose out on not drafting juggernauts like Josh Robinson!

Not speaking for Moth here, but in my opinion: because Bridgewater is not Luck or Manning. There have been recent reports that several teams' scouts are not as high on him as the media and that he may not be the 1st QB taken. He's far from a sure bet, especially in his rookie year.

I love the idea of Manziel and love how MN people hate the idea of him. He's a little cocky but it'd be awesome to get someone "Dangerous" here. Can't all be good boys like Greenway and Sullivan leading the Vikes

I concur w/ you on Manziel and MN. I grew up there but have lived in Europe, Latin America and elsewhere since my 20's… and I definitely see Manziel as the exact opposite of typical MN personality/ethos/ values. Then again, as soon as he had success there they'd embrace him all the more just like they did w/ Moss.

Perhaps they will but I think they have quite a bit of work to do and while adding Bridgewater might help them make a quick turnaround from a terrible year back to a winning season, I doubt they'll be elite. I'm hard-pressed to think of any QB who was drafted high in the first round and immediately helped a team become elite. I can't even think of an example. Usually, if a team is picking that high, they have enough problems that becoming elite the next season simply isn't a realistic possibility. At the very least, it seems unlikely, hence my doubt.

Who knows if he'll even end up going to the Texans? Heck, at this point, he hasn't said he'll enter the draft, has he?

The Texans will draft according to who the new coach is and what offense he runs. If they have the #1 pick who knows what they might get offered to trade down. There are so many questions and things that factor into that first pick. They could even trade down and end up taking Jonny Football with all his Texas Hype. He would sell tickets.

It would be a scary thought if they drafted Clowney and paired him with JJ, waited till the early next round and picked up a QB to compete with Schaub and Keenum.

A lot of mocks that I have read are predicting the Vikes to take Derek Carr from Fresno. They say he might be available at the 6th pick. 4500 yds passing, 45 TDs and only 5 ints. Might work.

His brother was pretty bad so the blood lines are a huge negative imo. Huge reach above the 3rd round.
