But did you guys see that clip of Ponder throwing that deep pass to Jerome Simpson? Weak arm my ###!!! Ponder has the arm strength it's just his confidence level isn't where it needs to be yet.

It didn't exactly hit him in stride, either.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but there's something about every Jerome Simpson catch, including this one and every one that I remember from last season. He's often cited for being extremely athletic, but he looks anything but athletic when catching the football. Most often he's falling down, out of bounds, turned the wrong way, or catching the ball into his body. He just doesn't have the look of a quality receiver. And I hope that this season he proves me 100% wrong.

Frazier not "overly concerned" about Desmond Bishops groin pull, but clearly there is concern for a guy who hasn't played since Aug. 9, 2012. Frazier noncommittal on Rhodes,Robinson and Raymond's hamstring injuries and if they play in preseason opener Fri."We'll know more tomorrow"
C Joe Berger was not at walkthrough. Frazier said he left for a personal matter last night. G Jeff Baca and G Tyler Holmes took snaps
Frazier said Stephen Burton, Bobby Felder and Jarius Wright will get a look at punt returner, "we're debating" on CP84 getting a look.

Everson Griffen is listed at 273lbs,told me he's around a comfortable 262 at DE, working on speed rushing QB. "The sacks will come," he says

Walking out late to practice, see Erin Henderson is heading back into the facility. Not sure why, but he's still battling groin pull

Man, this Bishop thing worries me. Hopefully he can recover...

Ignore previous QB, and high flying offense he played in.
Ignore production decreasing each of last two seasons.
Ignore recent injury history.
Ignore turning 30 this season (and just throw out a conveniently better sounding age, say 27)
Ignore large contract no other team was willing to offer

"...Debating" on whether to give CP84 a look at PR? What's to debate? If you have a playmaker the caliber of what Patterson should be, then you try and get that football in his hands as much as possible.

Risk and rewards, possibly? Returning punts often leads to injuries.

Or, perhaps he is less sure-handed than the other options? That's risky too.

If neither of those is an issue I agree w/ you. Let's give this kid some chances to strut his stuff!

I'll take a playmaker back there who can make some returners over another Fair Catch Wade....even if it means a fumble now and then.

They may be reluctant to throw too much at him at once. After all, he faces a steep learning curve at Wr and he's already working on KO returns, correct?

Everything is good and it's all going to work out. No chance of it not working that way. I understand.
*nods slowly along with all the logic in that post....*

Hopefully Flash isn't so learning disabled that asking him to work on punt returns is going to overwhelm him...or we may be in trouble.

I was simply suggesting that they may want to limit his focus right now. Returning punts would be an additional demand on his time and he's already being asked to handle kickoff returns and learn the WR position. There's a finite amount of practice time available.

Maybe that's not what they're thinking at all. It was just a guess. It certainly wasn't intended as a comment on his ability to learn.
