Kinda surprising on both of those. According to PFT, Verner's deal with TB is 4 years @ 26mil, 14 mil guaranteed. Seems reasonable considering how much interest there was in him around the league. You also gotta think the Saints maybe got a decent deal on Byrd as well, considering the cap problems they've been dealing with.
So if the Vikes are still looking to land a CB, who is left? Captain Munnerlyn? Revis once he's cut?
Yeah really makes the Packers look like they blew their load on Sam Shields. I am not a big fan of Verner, so I'm actually glad we held off.
I wouldn't mind Aqib Talib.
Would rather have had Vontae Davis over all of them, but he got a Shields type deal.

i feel like we missed the boat on the cb situation. we needed to sign one good guy on the defensive front and we did that, but we also drastically needed a cb. originally i thought verner was asking for WAY more money than what he signed for. and as far as revis goes, he'll want at least 9 million a year and someone will give it to him. talib is also out there but he will ask for a ton as well.

There are still a number of good options at cb. Not to mention a talented and deep group in the draft

Looking at his contract, it looks like the Vikes could have easily afforded him, even the 14 mill gauranteed.

Wow. Why would he want to go there?

I think the smartest option at this point would be to go after a veteran corner who can be a good 1 or 2 year option while mentoring our younger Corners. I think the ideal person would be Antonio Cromartie as long as the price is within reason. Asante Samuel would also be a player who, although pretty old (33), could hold down a starting spot while mentoring the other corners. Walter Thurmond III is also a player I'm intrigued by who has been a solid slot corner and is still young, but the price and off field issues will likely lead the vikings in a different direction.

Probably the only team that would give him any snaps outside of the goal line.
Good riddance, we need a scat back with some blocking and some wiggle. Not a glorified full back.

Completely agree with this, I personally think we need to give Bradley Randle more time on 3rd downs. he's been working his #### off all season and he's the perfect Darren Sproles type guy for Norv Turners system. (Assuming we don't actually get Darren Sproles lol). I wouldn't mind seeing DeAnthony Thomas being brought in to play that role also.

That's probably mostly true with that team. And maybe even start a few games?

another corner off the board, my personal favorite
Aqib Talib - DB - Broncos
Broncos signed CB Aqib Talib to a six-year, $57 million contract with $26 million guaranteed.

I knew the Vikings weren't gonna dish out that much money for a corner. He was a longshot for us from the start.
