Cousins contract is now fully guaranteed so the Vikings are on the hook.CharVike wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 10:32 pmI know zero about the CAP if we deal him we are stuck with the CAP? If they deal Cousins then they would take a $31 million cap hit which they could not afford

Re: NFL Draft Day
Rick is saying he tried to trade up. Also considered trading up from 23 for Darrisaw. Now, how hard he tried is another thing, recall he said the same thing last year. Also, the first time he spoke to Darrisaw was when they drafted him.
I think they should consider trading Ezra Cleveland. If Darrisaw is a pure LT as they are saying, what was the point of drafting Cleveland? No one projected him as a guard and I seriously doubt that was the plan. I’d rather trade him and get a true guard then try to fit a round peg in a square hole.

Hi Everybody. I predicted the Darrisaw pick, but I expected it at 14 not at 23 with us getting two free third rounders. If we don't trade up into the second round we really should use one of our 4 third rounders on a QBotF.

Everybody would bicker if we drafted a DT as small as Page.VikingPaul73 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 8:04 ammaybe if they cloned a 21 year old Alan Page everyone on this board would like it, but beyond that there will be bickering![]()

You missed it by one pick.RandyMoss84 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 9:51 am Can anyone please do not spoil the picks?
I have a feeling that Slater will fall to #14 and Vikings will run to the podium and select Slater

There, now we know who the Vikings took. The difference in talent between darrisaw and AVT isn’t much IMO.
Side note: Spielman just said in his presser he plans on moving up into round 2

Two High School teammates are scouts. One for Colts and one currently unemployed due to firings last season. Another teammate has been defensive coach for Lions and Eagles. Draft chart means nothing in today's NFL. It's not even used anymore by NFL teams (ask me how I know)![]()

I don't hate the pick but I don't like our compensation for falling that number of spots.

Why?CharVike wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 10:27 pmYou can get guys anywhere. But passing up a stud for good value is a bad deal. But you need to look at who you passed up. I wanted Jones and if he's a bum for Bill B then good move. If he's off the charts it's one of the worst draft moves ever. I have a little more faith in Bill B.Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 9:46 pm
Dude we got Justin Jefferson at 22. Just because we traded down doesn’t mean they can’t get a talented player. Like I said, let’s relax until we see who we get. If Paye falls to them. Or even Darrisaw that’s good value
He drafted Brady in the 6th, and nobody drafted Brady before that round.
If you ask me, he got very lucky and rode the back of that good fortune to mythic status.
Mac Jones might be good in the pros. He might not be all that good. I think if the Vikings want a developmental QB prospect in this year's draft they are in prime position to get one, and largely because of this trade. I will be shocked if one of Davis Mills, Kyle Trask or Kellen Mond is not a Viking by the end of tomorrow. In my opinion any one of those guys can become an excellent pro QB, especially given that none of them have to step immediately into the franchise savior mode.

What a weird thing to argue. I never said we can't still get a good player. I said I don't like the compensation we got to move back. Who we get / got is only one part of the equation. You have to get good compensation and still draft a good player. We drafted a good player but did not get good compensation. We basically got only a 3rd. We gave up a 4th that balances the other 3rd some. Bad comp.Pondering Her Percy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 9:46 pmDude we got Justin Jefferson at 22. Re: NFL Draft Day
Why would they trade Cleveland because they drafted Darrisaw if Cleveland played guard for them last year? I know he played LT for his college team but he didn't play it for the Vikings and if they had a notion to slot Cleveland in LT they can try him there during the offseason and preseason. Darrisaw can play guard too I'd imagine, but he most likely will play LT.S197 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 10:53 pm I think they should consider trading Ezra Cleveland. I think the Vikings will snag another interior OL in the 3rd or 4th round in this draft. There should be robust competition all along the OL with the exception of perhaps center or RT. I'm kind of hoping the Vikings draft either Landon Dickerson or Josh Myers to push Bradbury a bit, but they're more likely to take a guard.

I agree. Would have been nice to get a 2nd, but #66 puts them in prime position to move up into the late 2nd if they want.YikesVikes wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 11:23 pm I don't hate the pick but I don't like our compensation for falling that number of spots.

Re: NFL Draft Day
In what world does a 3rd round pick balance a 4th round pick? No less the 3rd is at 86. The 4th is 143. That’s a 57 pick difference. That’s a round and a half worth of picks. It doesn’t balance whatsoever.YikesVikes wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 11:31 pmWhat a weird thing to argue. I never said we can't still get a good player. You’re complaining about not getting a 2nd but we get the 2nd pick in the 3rd round. So what, if we got the 31st pick in the 2nd you would’ve been happy? Just because it’s a 2nd round pick? That’s a 4 pick difference. And you’re saying the 86th pick somewhat balances out the 143rd pick? Like what?! You literally aren’t even making sense.
We are 1 pick away from having the highest possible 3rd rounder you can have and just moved up 57 picks into the mid 3rd round. And you want to say “I can’t wait for people to spin this into a good move”. Uh yeah, that’s pretty damn good, no need to spin anything. No less Spielman is saying they are planning on moving up into round 2. So whether the jets gave us a 2nd or another team does, why the hell does it matter? Bottom line is, there’s an excellent chance we are back into the 2nd tomorrow night. Still got who they were targeting and gained picks.
If you don’t think that was good value, idk what to tell you. The draft value chart says it and hell, common sense says it.
We pass on tucker, move down 9 picks and get Darrisaw who was ranked ahead of Vera tucker on multiple lists. Plus gain what we did and have more ammo than any team out there to move into the 2nd.
That’s doing a hell of a job behind the scenes working the draft board if you ask me
