@BuckyBrooks The OL capable of making Zach Martin-like impact on a squad is @LSUfball OT La'el Collins. AFC exec raved about his toughness & physicality. Told me that Collins would bring that "dog" and grit that every O-Line needs. Plus, he is talented enough to play OT (RT) or OG as a pro.
@BuckyBrooks For a team that wants to bully opponents with a power-based scheme w/maulers upfront, Collins would be an ideal candidate..

IMO that's placing quite a bit of faith on a former 7th-rounder/practice squad guy but it's an interesting perspective nonetheless.

Josh Norris' latest mock: http://www.rotoworld.com/articles/cfb/5 ... mock-draft
That is exactly what I am afraid will happen come draft day. Cooper and Waynes would be on the board and this team would choose Waynes. It would be a short-sighted and down right disgusting move if that were to occur.

Let's hope this team is smarter than that.

Some interesting insight/film study on Yeldon (first) and Coleman: http://mattwaldmanrsp.com/2014/09/19/rs ... rotoworld/

Not a very flattering picture/conclusion of Coleman, though I can't determine if that's based on this one film study session or a combination of this and Waldman's previous viewings.

That was my first thought, too.

I try to stay arms distance from the draft talk, because in the end we (fans) are wrong almost as often as we're right and there's no sense falling in love with a player who you won't get to cheer for. That said, I originally heard quite a few members talk White down as a workout warrior that we should steer away from. I'm a bit worried that I've heard increasingly positive posts on him lately...but again, I don't follow the draft as closely as others (I mostly do retroactive research once our picks have been made) so maybe he IS as good as billed.

EDIT: The only player I've researched for the past three years was CP. I saw some kind of special on NFLN with Mooch a few weeks before the draft and absolutely was blown away by his athleticism and immediately drawn to his personality. This is likely why I'm one of his staunchest defenders.

I think the hesitation is his only one real year of production. And it's usually a good thing when the combine matches the tape. I think it's probably a moot point as I'd be surprised if he was there at 11 with the Raiders, Bears and Rams looking long and hard at the top receivers. Not that mocks are any indication, but White is gone by the Rams selection in just about every mock I see.

Ponder IS pretty athletic

For what it's worth, I'll be pretty surprised if the Bears go with a WR. I'm thinking they will have their eye on defense in R1.

Thanks for the links, looks like he is pretty good. Not sure I think he is close to Waynes skill set and he is a little light on the lbs(188). His 4.52 40 is a little slow for what I would like in a corner across from Xavier. But that doesn't mean I don't like him, he looks like a starter for sure, good hands and ball awareness. Closing speed looked damn good

This is one of the only years in past 5-6 years that Im not really in love with anyone in particular coming to the Vikings. I think there are a few guys that would make good fits. Kendricks, Scherff, and a few other guys. I don't feel like this draft is nearly as deep with great ball players as other drafts in recent memory. I think there are quite a few CBs that could end up being good that should be available at 2nd/3rd pick of the draft. Some WRs might be worth drafting, and developing, but I don't see a whole lot of them that are going to come in and compete for a starting spot right away. Last year I had huge Man Crush on Deone Buchannon and CJ Mosely.. This year, maybe if Im not as attached to any particular player, it won't be such a let down when they don't draft exactly who I want them to..

I would love to have another corner to pair with Rhodes. We need two high level CBs considering the opposing QBs in our division.

I don't hate Robinson by any mean, I just think elite corners are always worth the time

Robinson and Munnerlyn just weren't consistent enough. They'd give up big third downs...and touchdowns, too often. I wouldn't want either of them as full time starters if we had a choice.

I guess IA m willing to give Munnerlyn another chance, but I wouldn't be opposed to them drafting a CB... I just don't view it as a need as much as some other positions.

Brandon Scherff - T - Hawkeyes

Iowa OL Brandon Scherff "is the best OL prospect I have seen in 2015 and it may not be real close," wrote Bob Sturm of the Dallas Morning News.

As Sturm notes before an extensive breakdown, he's "never been a scout or a NFL General Manager, but I am willing to watch a ton of football." With that as a preface, the scribe wrote of Scherff: "I can’t swear he is a left tackle, but he is going to be a 'butt-kicker' at some position for the next 10 years, I am sure of that." Sturm also discussed an important slice of the evaluation process that is often forgotten as fans dream about athletic tools of superhuman prospects. "I really think that when you look at 1st round picks, we must consider the floor and the ceiling," Sturm wrote. "I think his floor is higher than just about any prospect in this draft, and while the ceiling may not be as high, if you are looking for 'bust proof' and getting a real solid starter as the absolute worse-case scenario, I think I would rubber stamp an investment in this player. He is very solid and could play any of 4 OL positions."

Stephone Anthony - LB - Tigers

Clemson LB Stephone Anthony "has the ability to be at least a consistent force at inside linebacker," writes NFLDraftScout.com's Frank Cooney.

"But based only on one major slip in college, the team that drafts him must make sure he remains actively engaged after finally getting a nice paycheck in his ninth consecutive year of competitive football," Cooney wrote. At the combine, the 6-foot-2, 235-pound Anthony recorded a 4.56 forty, 1.57 10 yard split, 37" vertical, 10'2" broad jump, 7.07 3-cone and 4.03 20-yard short shuttle. "I think my 40-time sparked a lot of people and just my athleticism through the different drills and definitely in the position work, watching me move," said Anthony. Added Cooney: "Those who questioned his speed and athleticism are rethinking their reports after Anthony's outstanding combine performance."

Denzel Perryman - LB - Hurricanes

Miami ILB Denzel Perryman "was a playmaker from the first day he suited up until he ended his career last season as on coaches' first-team All-ACC," observed NFLDraftScout.com's Frank Cooney.

The analyst mentions that Perryman was highly productive both as a starter on the inside and outside while in school. Cooney then poked holes in comparisons made to Wisconsin's Chris Borland. "Perryman is not really a frenetic, hyperactive tackling machine like Borland," Cooney wrote. "Perryman is more of a deliberate, focused defensive quarterback who reads plays well and uses a combination of quickness and good angles to get in on plays and is an efficient open-field tackler." At the combine, Perryman was asked what scouts liked about him. He responded: "They like how I go downhill, they like how I take on blocks. Some scouts like to see my man-to-man coverage, my technique on that i just need to brush that up. As far as my pass coverage, some of them were impressed at the Senior Bowl."

Eric Kendricks - LB - Bruins

UCLA LB Eric Kendricks, like brother Mychal (Philadelphia Eagles), "has that rare read-and-react instinct necessary to be a great inside linebacker," notes NFLDraftScout.com's Frank Cooney.

"We're the same blood," Eric Kendricks said at the combine when asked about Mychal. "We bring a lot of the same characteristics to the game. We can do a lot of things that a lot of people can't do. Flexibility, speed, collision at point of attack. Those are things we both bring to the table." Rotoworld ranks Kendricks as a top-10 talent and sees him as a surefire first-round talent. "Let's just agree that we can't coach genetics, measure a heart or teach instincts -- which are the basics that make Kendricks a wildly productive football player," Cooney wrote. "In the right defense, he can continue to mess with offenses for many more years." Kendricks is a three-down LB who is skilled in coverage.
