Actually, it would be preferable if there wasn't a sizable gap between them, as long as Bridgewater was really good.

Having a big drop off from the starter to the backup is far from an ideal situation. It's rare, but infinitely preferable, to have a backup who can step in and handle the job without a major drop in the quality of the QB's performance.

Im sorry but I dont recall many instances in which a good quality QB went out, for his backup to come in and play at a similar level, without taking his job outright.
Though you raise a good point, and I suppose you are right, that would be the IDEAL situation, but I think if Bridge was to become a HOFer (Which, ideally you would want him to be) and you guys found him a backup not far behind, that would be one hell of a job by the Vikings coaching staff, and something that is rarely done.

True, but Bridgewater hasn't even established himself as an above average NFL starter yet, much less a potential Hall of Famer, so that hypothetical scenario is a long way off, assuming it ever materializes at all.
My point was simply that, if we're talking about what's
preferable, it's better not to have a huge drop off from starter to backup. It's certainly not an unachievable goal if a team just takes it seriously.

You mean.....like when the Vikings pulled McNabb and replaced him with Ponder? It was basically exactly the same performance

Matt Cassell when tom brady went down comes to mind..... anyway have no fear, I emailed Wobby asking about our back up qbs saying how I heard they looked pretty terrible. Wobby said that actually Hill looks very good in camp and I need not worry.
This kinda reassured me, but I know that wobby is the one that spikes the Kool aid the most

@Andrew_Krammer Rookie DT B.J. Dubose, sixth-round pick, said he dropped 20 pounds from rookie minicamp. Began running 5 miles every AM.

@ArifHasanNFL Edwards sees a lot more consistency from Munnerlyn, "better understanding of what we're trying to do" a/ cvg, leverage
@ArifHasanNFL Edwards preaching patience at naming MLB starter
@ArifHasanNFL George Edwards: They'll rotate players during preseason so competitors at open positions get reps against quality starters.
@ArifHasanNFL Edwards: won't really gameplan v Pittsburgh, though will take a look.
@AjKFAN Priefer: "I would like to see Stefon (Diggs) in game situations because I think he can compete as PR and KR on this team." #Vikings

Chris Tomasson @christomasson 5h5 hours ago
#Vikings QB Shaun Hill, who is a 14-year NFL veteran: “This is as deep of a group as I’ve been around as far as receivers.’’
From yesterday:
Mark Craig @markcraignfl Aug 2
One thing that has stood out to me in camp is how Peterson is catching the ball so much more smoothly on a consistent basis.
