One year it was Percy Harvin, another it was Tebow. This year it's Manziel. I just wouldn't enjoy cheering for this enormous dbag. I plugged my nose and cheered for Favre because he was so great, but I really want Manziel to be a failure, and not for us.

Personal feelings about him aside, I'm actually not a huge fan of running QBs. Sure, there have been some good ones lately with Kapp and Wilson, but look at the long term track record of running QBs. Vick was injured a fair amount and never came close to realizing his potential as a passer. McNabb was great but injuries forced him to switch his style away from running a lot. RG3 may never be the same. Despite the trend toward running QBs, the majority of QBs that have been successful in the nfl over the last 5 years have been big, strong armed, pocket qbs. That's what I hope the Vikings are looking for.

And did I mention that Manziel is an enormous dbag?

What are you smoking? Joe Kapp played in the sixties! But he WAS one hell of a runner, you're right about that!

For those of you who hate on Manziel, check out Kapp's throw at the 37 second mark… just get it done, even if it's ugly!

(P.S. yes, I know you meant Kaeppernick. Just having fun  )

This was the epitome of "jock" at my HS. Hardly stereotyping as I don't see how it's offensive...?

Saying my people (Jews) eat bagels all day, and love money is stereotyping :)

Not to get further off topic but a stereotype doesn't need to be offensive to qualify as a stereotype. Stereotyping is just the practice of unfairly suggesting all people or things with a particular characteristic are the same.

That said, somehow I think a person who was being characterized by a complete stranger as someone who would leave a bag of his own feces in an old person's mailbox might find that offensive!

I wouldn't take Manziel in the top three rounds. If I had the last pick in the 3rd round, I'd pass if he was still available. I'd be tempted in the 4th round.

wouldn't take manziel in the top 3 rounds, well that is nice to know. mark my words he won't even be there at 8 so no one needs to worry about it. most rational mock drafts have him going top 5. just because jaworski (who was highly overrated anyway) and hodge (pretty much a bum his entire career) don't like him now everyone talks like he's going to slip to the 4th round. give me a break.

He's not going to slip to the 3rd or 4th round. Just saying that I wouldn't want him in the top three rounds. Actually, I wouldn't want him at all, but if here was there in the mid to late 4th round, he'd be tough to pass up.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him as this year's green room casualty, though, and slip to the end of the 1st round, sweating with all the cameras on him as a bunch of offensive linemen and linebackers get picked ahead of him.

i have two thoughts on this subject. the first is i don't think manziel is there at 8, but even if he is i don't see the vikings taking him. i just don't see manziel as a viking. personally, i would take a chance on him at 8 because every free agent we have signed has been on defense, and we'll probably even add a few more defensive players. and make no mistake about it zimmer won't tolerate a poor or even below average defense. i actually like the cox signing. how do you go from one of the best to one of the worst in just one season? i wouldn't be surprised if zimmer gets him back to old form and he starts opposite rhodes.

Man, it sure is the off season here in Vikings country. I'd have a Lone Star with Johnny and jam out to Dire Straits in a McD's parking lot at 1:30am. Seesh.

This quote was embedded in a piece on reducing the hits to AD, written by Goessling:
Zimmer also said he'd talked with former Vikings quarterback Fran Tarkenton, who's been outspoken about comparing himself to Johnny Manziel. The Vikings have the eighth overall pick in the draft in May, and while it remains to be seen whether they'd take Manziel if he's available in the draft, it should come as little shock they're doing their homework on him. "It's still going to come down to how we feel about how he's going to be in the locker room, what kind of a person he's going to be, what kind of a leader, and then go from there,"
