This story makes SO much sense and I figured this might've happened. While Packer fans honestly believe the world revolves around the Packers and that everything Favre does in his daily life is based on how it would affect the Packers, who would be a better person to talk to about this than Brett Favre. Like Jennings said, Brett is a straight shooter so he would get the straight poop from Favre on what to expect from the Vikings and its fans. And the fact that Greg Jennings feels so strongly about joining the Vikings after this week, shows that Favre helped sell Jennings on the idea of joining. What Packer fans seem to forget is that Brett Favre retired a Viking, not a Packer, and his experience as a Viking was pretty remarkable and if he had anything bad to say it would've been about Brad Childress I'm guessing, who is long gone. But talking up the Vikings is not a betrayal of the Packers, its honestly sharing his experience with the Vikings, the team that he retired from.
This also confirms my feeling that Greg Jennings maintained affection for Favre after the split. Jennings remembers that Favre was the one who gave Jennings the chance to shine in his sophomore 2007 breakout year, just like Brett did for Percy in 2009. but I noticed Jennings was one of the few Packers who wouldn't follow the team mantra by bashing Favre and proclaiming Rodgers the best QB he ever played with. The most Jennings would say is that he won a SB with Rodgers and not with Favre. But that's the type of guy Jennings is, he's secure, classy, and not into trash talk or putting others down. I'm glad he's with a classy organization now.[/quote]
See thats just it.
Everything Favre does DOES revolve around the Packers.
Favre played his immature little games with the organization with his will he wont he retire crap for years, what people actually forget is that in 08 when favre tried to unretire, Ted Thompson actually ACCEPTED it, Favre was supposed to come to GB to work out the details when he ONCE AGAIN changed his mind and decided to stay retired. Later when he tried to (again) unretire, Ted Thompson once again accepted, this time on the condition that Favre beat out Aaron Rodgers for the right to start. (Which he was apparently to afraid to attempt.) Favre decided to act like a spoiled child but Ted Thompson recognized that he would go out of his way to sign with a division rival just to stick it to the Pack hence the trade to the Jets.
After his short stint in NY Favre decided to act like he was retiring simply to comeback as a free agent in an effort to sign with the Vikings, once again, only to stick it to the Packers. (Although I will admit, you guys were a good fit for him at the time.) Did you see him after that win against GB in 09? He was ECSTATIC to stick it to the same fans that supported him to an absolutely retarded level for years upon years including throughout his Vicoden addiction, the same fans that (admittedly) were all to eager to make any amount of excuses for him as they needed, he was essentially a demi god to these fans, and yet, he would do whatever it takes to stick it to them. REAL CLASSY BRETT. (I will give him credit, his lack of maturity resulted in the greatest and most satisfying sports storylines to ever occur.)
But it didn't stop, Favre was all to eager to trot along and tell Julius Peppers (Another Division Rival) to beat the Packers in the NFCCG, if pleading another division rival to beat the team you couldn't doesn't scream bitterness idk what does.
And now even after his successor completely and utterly REAMED him, and later went on to become better then Brett Favre could ever dream to be, he is still talking crap, still making excuses (He just kinda fell into a good situation.....), and still trying to stick it to the Pack, I mean comon, do you really think Brett did this out of his love for the Vikes rather then his Hate for the Pack? He played like, 2 seasons with you guys, and the latter of them ended as unimaginably disappointing as it could get for him( Though 09 didn't exactly end fantastic for him either). Brett simply needs to find a hobby, crack open a Paps Blue Ribbon or whatever brew is popular down there, and try to forget all about the NFL, because this infantile hatred CANNOT be good for his psyche.
As to Greg, sucks to see him go, good WR. If the Vikes hit on one of their 1st round WR selections and Ponder keeps devoloping they will have a very scary offense.

Re: Vikings vs Packers (again) for Jennings
I find a lot to agree with in your post. Although I would wager that he was more about sticking it to the front office than any of the fans.RandallioCobb18 wrote:Everything Favre does DOES revolve around the Packers.

I really think there was an issue with Favre and the Pack in regards to Thompson's inability to get playmakers and solid lineman in there during the last few Favre years. Rodgers 1st season was a good example. It was very easy for opposing lines to get pressure on him. I remember watching him and thinking that if he ever got time to throw the ball he's gonna be practically unstoppbale.
I think he's a full head above Favre as far as being a great QB....but he still hasn't had a real balanced team yet. The teams during Favre's prime were just better teams IMO.
From my perspective it just seemed that Favre didn't respect the FO there, much the way he didn't respect Childress here. And there is some legitemacy there in my eyes in both cases. The Pack still has no real running game to take pressure off of Rodgers...for whatever reason. It hurts them in the playoffs. And Childress was just un-respectable in a variety of ways.
Anyway, your post made me laugh cause I get the whole "worship Favre melo-drama".... I think the guy thinks he could've won 3 more superbowls there if he was in charge of the FO. He can do no wrong....

I hope Jennings does well here...it sure makes the rivalry a bit more interesting.
Welcome to the board and such~
