Yup, it's a good deal for the Vikes.

I wish Percy success in Seattle and that's starting to look like a pretty formidable team over there, but I just don't see him reaching his full potential there. He wasn't going to here, either. Very few teams would be able to fully utilize him and turn him into a mega-star. The Patriots are the obvious example as well as other teams that have elite QBs. I guess I just haven't seen enough from Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson to think they can do the same.

Somewhere there's a Vikings fan who owns two jerseys: Winfield and Harvin. He's having a bad day.
I own both jerseys... One is the old school one I got when we signed Antoine. Harvin's is from his rookie season and one of the new Nike jerseys... Oh well, I know what I am getting into every time I get a jersey.

I'd take S.Rice back on a 20 million incentive laden deal, sure the guys injury prone and not worth what seattle gave him at all but every player has a fair price where the risk / production can merit the deal. Obviously don't bring him in as the solution to WR but as a #2-3 wr he'd be fine.

Percy Harvin - WR - Seahawks

Profootballtalk.com reports Percy Harvin's new Seahawks deal is worth $67 million over six seasons, with only $14.5 million fully guaranteed.

Another $11 million is guaranteed for injury, but this is a smaller deal than Harvin was probably expecting. It's actually worth just slightly less than Dwayne Bowe's in annual average, making Harvin -- for now -- the NFL's fifth highest paid receiver behind Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Mike Wallace, and Bowe. And the low guaranteed total protects the Seahawks. Seattle gave up a draft-pick haul for Harvin, but this looks like a great deal for the club.

We could have gave him that deal easily. Oh well, we got a lot for him, so it is a moot point.

I doubt that Harvin had much say in where he ended up. There couldn't have been too many NFL teams willing to give the Vikings that kind of loot for his services. Once in Seattle, what's he going to do, hold out??? The good part of that contract for Seattle is the low guarantee, but they're still paying a damned slot receiver $11M per year, which is ridiculous.

ya but would he have signed that deal with us?

It wasn't about money, Percy didn't want to be here anymore.

We'll see how moot it is in a few years with where Seattle is and what we end up doing with the picks.

No, I understand. I am just saying, we could have done this at one point and time before things escalated. Oh well, like I said, it is moot now. Nothing can change history, or hey, we would be super bowl champions by now!

Its funny how he says its niice to have a commander and chief who wants to put the time in to work hard... I am pretty sure that Ponder tried over and over again to hold get togethers during the lockout to practice with his team mates and Percy harvin flaked every time. funny stuff.

this was my initial thought exactly

Right. Because reports of Ponder is that he's a slacker.

Sarcasm. He's reportedly a very hard worker and ace in the film room and Xs and Os. If only that more consistently translated on the field.
