I think this team is better than the Bengals but Cousins has a history of struggling early. This is a young team so a lot of growing pains. They'll be better next year. The wildcard is Cook. If they don't have to overuse him in the first half of the season, I think he could turn a few losses in to wins late in the year.

I really don't see us winning alot of games this year. Six maybe more but I highly doubt it. Last season we couldn't block anybody, couldn't stop anybody. Face, it Cousins is an average NFL QB. The Oline and defense have to really perform well for us to win 8 or more games. Really tough schedule.

Not sure where to put this so I'll put it here.
Tom Pelissero
The NFL just informed clubs that if a game cannot be rescheduled during the 18-week season in 2021 due to a COVID outbreak among unvaccinated players, the team with the outbreak will FORFEIT and be credited with a loss for playoff seeding, per sources.
Massive implications.
--------------
The league intends to play its entire 272-game schedule over 18 weeks (17 games per club). And this is key:
"We do not anticipate adding a '19th week' to accommodate games that cannot be rescheduled within the current 18 weeks of the regular season."
Play on time or don't play.
-------------
Here’s more from today’s memo, which also says the team responsible for a canceled game because of an outbreak among unvaccinated players/staff will be responsible for financial losses and subject to potential discipline from the commissioner. Wow.
-------------
Other key competitive aspect of today's memo:
Vaccinated individuals who test positive and are asymptomatic can return to duty after two negative tests 24 hours apart.
Unvaccinated individuals still subject to mandatory 10-day isolation period.
------------
More strong language from today's NFL memo:
"Every club is obligated under the Constitution and Bylaws to have its team ready to play at the scheduled time and place. A failure to do so is deemed conduct detrimental. There is no right to postpone a game."
------------
This is the NFL's strongest step yet to incentivize vaccinations. In essence, vaccination status dictates action:
"If a club cannot play due to a Covid spike in vaccinated individuals, we will attempt to minimize the competitive and economic burden on both participating teams."
------------
And the biggest penalty of all for players:
"If a game is cancelled and cannot be rescheduled within the current 18-week scheduled due to a Covid outbreak, neither team’s players will receive their weekly paragraph 5 salary."
You read that right: NOBODY GETS PAID.

I already had a low opinion on Cousins, but Thielen and Smith refusing to get the vaccine is so selfish IMO. I sure hope they reconsider. Would hate to lose a game this way.

These preseason predictions are fun, so I never call people out on their guesses. But if the Vikes start off 0-4 I’ll give a grand to whatever charity of your choice.

I do not see how it is selfish? It is their body so they can do what they want and there is nothing we can do about it

I'm dying here... Having watched some football this 1st week. No chance we beat LA Rams. Highly doubt we beat Dak and the Boys. I don't even think we beat the Chargers. I am feeling a 4 win season right now.
I foresee a HC change as well. I expect a 1st rd QB with a top 5 pick.

Yeah, I was going by what I felt back in May. Rams are really good. I didn't think Dak would look so good in his return. Those three (LA,LA,DAL) were home games and I was figuring Cook should have a few monster games at some point. But you're right, no chance they beat the Rams. I still think they have a chance vs DAL and the Chargers.

Haha. I admit. I didn't see this coming. Never thought this team would put in a team effort to win. OL, DL, secondary, ST, OL, Mattison, and Kirk all played complimentary football for once.
