My plan is consistently haphazard. Though I love the Vikes, I lead a very busy life and I'm frugall, so I catch nationally televised games, read as much as possible on what's going on (Star Tribune especially, and here) and once in a while I'll walk down to a nearby pub to catch part of a game. I would love to consider other alternatives, though. It feels ridiculous to me that games can't be shown at a reasonable price across the world.
Sunday ticket is available as part of Directv, but also a stand alone feature available on game consoles and computers. To answer your question more directly, no, you do not need DirecTV for Sunday Ticket.
NFL gamepass is also something to consider, it is a hundred bucks but you get every game on replay shortly after they are over with, and you even get the live radio broadcast, if you are located outside of America you even get the live game broadcast in its entirety.

Wait, so did they cancel game rewind or just rename it game pass? What's the difference?

They pretty much put it into Gamepass.
The difference is Rewind was only 25 a month and was only replays of games, Gamepass is like a hundred year and gives you the replays, and also the live audio broadcast. (Or for those out of America, the live game broadcast.)
I guess that is better for people who use it to follow their team, I, though, used rewind to fill my football fix during the offseason, so I wasn't pleased when this occured.

Thanks, I'll either do sunday ticket or see if I can find the Vikings bar around here. I've always had a great time at Fan Club bars. Its great being in Nashville or Greensboro surrounded by 100+ purple clad Vikings fans, but it ends up costing a lost more than Sunday Ticket!

Honestly, for a dude who used to use rewind for following his team (Unless I misunderstood you.), that surprises me. Gamepass is essentially the same cost as rewind but you get the radio broadcast as it happens.

I don't have any interest in the radio broadcast. I want to see the game and I much prefer to see it without knowing the outcome already.
I go to as many games as possible (7 this year), but otherwise I keep up with Vikings Journal, reddit, Twitter, KFAN, VMB, MVN...all over, really.
A lot of games are televised, but the ones that aren't, I find a way to watch them. I've missed maybe three games in the last 8 years or so. ...and I was not happy about it.
