I can confirm the Boone terms that @AaronWilson_NFL tweeted out. Four years, $26.8 million with $10 million guaranteed. #Vikings

Boone's contract only counts $1.6 million this year. So Harris/Loadholt/Boone are getting over $4 million less COMBINED than Kalil.

so if a proven success gets that much this year there is no way Kalil will get his 11 million
Re: Vikings sign LG Alex Boone, formerly of the 49ers
He'll get it and Boone's getting more than $1.6 in 2016 too. He'll make $6.7M in 2016.chicagopurple wrote:so if a proven success gets that much this year there is no way Kalil will get his 11 million

damn, I'll miss him this year. Hopefully he'll be back next year. Weird to just resign for a year though. Might as well retire!chicagopurple wrote:harris resigned for 1 yr

Griffen came out in 2007 and has played on 3 team i believe has averaged about 2-3 picks
in his career and almost 800 tackles...should be able to contribute well if he has not fallen off
due to age this years Newman ?

lots of older dudes with 7-8 yrs under their belt being signed...I hope they can hold up for a whole season. 8 yrs in the NFL is alot of wear and tear.

At least they all have shown some talent.
The Vikings will be going through a different conditioning program, which I hope will help cut down on the team injuries.

Terence Newman certainly proved his value last season at 38. I tend to agree in general about guys aging and declining, but there are exceptions. Especially those players who master technique and film study and become more cerebral than just physical. I think it is a mistake to assume the absolute, instead we should trust that our GM/Coaches know what they are doing.
Alex Boone was an undrafted free agent coming out of college. So in terms of adding "talent" his draft position would tell us we added more of the same later round crapola. Obviously his performance in SF counted for something as well as Boone having played under Sparano.
There was an article on ESPN about how the Vikings are hedging their bets in FA by assembling a veteran coaching staff. There are three former head coaches on Zimmer's staff as well as several assistants with over 10 years of NFL experience. I think a lot of our FA success is going to come down to how well this "hedge" plays out and not on how flashy we are.

yeah, I am very interested to see how a new OL coach impacts the entire offense. The last 4-5 yrs have been rather tepid. I always find myself pondering just how many rushing titles AP would have had and how fewer injuries if he had a first rate OL.......scary!

Don't hate on my Buckeyes. Some of the best Vikings went to Ohio State.
