He looked really good... Maybe... just maybe... he could be our other safety.
I'm hoping the same thing. Seems like he has a better nose for the ball than the other guys. I'd love to see him play back there with a healthy Smith (who is great).
Sure hope that Harris isn't a one-game-wonder.

Harris looked pretty good, except for that play where Larry Fitzgerald pancake-blocked him onto his backside. He needs to bulk up a bit.

Norv Zimmer wrote:I thought harris played great, waynes on the other hand was a huge dissapointment. Waynes looks confused, he got burned so many times on simple routes. Makes me second guess even more selecting him at 11....
I completely disagree. He was confused on the one play. That was it. He actually made some good plays on the ball throughout the game. Especially towards the end on Fitzgerald.
Even Zimmer said the reason they moved Newman back to safety was because they thought Waynes was the next best player and he clearly is. He didnt get "burned so many times". Not sure where that is even coming from.

I agree PHP. I thought Waynes had a good game against two of the best WRs in the game.

And I agree too. I thought Waynes did well out there. Actually, I think he's gradually improving as the season progresses.

Did you look at Waynes stats? I dont want to be too negative, but theres NO way Zimmer would start Waynes unless he had to. I dont think Waynes has improved at all.
Harris looked impressive, first time playing or not.

At least with waynes out there, we know that he can catch balls that are thrown right to him. Not sure the same can be said about some of our other players in the secondary.

Why would Zimmer need to rush Waynes into action when Newman has been playing well?? There is no need right now. I would love to see you justify why he "hasn't improved". He made a few good plays on the ball last night and had an INT that was called back. What are you really expecting out of a guy that made his first career start vs one of the best offenses in the NFL?? Outside of his confusion on the TD, I thought he played quite well

I was thrilled when we got Harris undrafted I am hoping next season he will have Zimmer's system down
and we have a decent safety to put will Smith, finally.

Curious as to some of these "haters" actual football pedigree, besides being arm chair QB' ???
There are some very exciting things going on here. People, remember before the season when we were hoping to make the playoffs, now those same are blaspheming the Vikings for losing the Super Bowl already. Not really those exact words but quick to complain and wanting to overhaul the team every year.
Harris was a great signing and really glad that he looked good. He is an inexpensive potential starter which is huge because Smith needs a contract extension. This is a great looking secondary with Harris back there when they are healthy. He showed ball hawking skills.
This defense may be special next year with these young guys gaining all of this experience right now. Very happy with the development and improvements in the secondary and defense overall.

"Haters" is a needlessly divisive term that tends to lead to exactly the kind of "good fan/bad fan" posts and discussions we'd prefer to avoid here.

That's an interesting choice of words. It's interesting to me how often words that have a religious connotation pop up in football discussions (faith, belief, spirit, sacrifice, etc.). It's hardly "blasphemy" for people to be critical of the team. After all, we're fans, not cheerleaders and following the Vikes isn't a religion, even if some of us follow them fervently. There's no need to divide ourselves into believers and non-believers (often referred to in these parts as "apologists" and "haters").
