The thing with Hodges is that I feel like Cole could go in there and do the same thing Hodges could. Plus you sprinkle Greenway in. He wasn't all that needed. He started at MIKE to begin the season and you could see that it quickly faded. Especially with how bad he got sucked out of the run vs SF. We gain a young talented lineman which is what we could use at this point and gain a 6th which gives us more ammo to move around in next years draft

I've been negative on Hodges play as a MLB, I don't think that experiment has been working out but I thought he still had potential on the outside. They must just feel Audie Cole is a similar caliber of player. I'm all for Kendricks taking over but at first look this trade seems to be not in our favor, of course I don't know anything about Easton so that's probably part of it.

If Easton can learn the offense fast, it gives the Vikes the option to move Berger back to one of the Guard spots. Could be a good move?

He's made quite a few plays so far. I don't know how much plays he's missed but being invisible may mean he's doing his job, at least in coverage.

edit. Looking at his stat line, I would've thought his numbers would be higher.

IF Easton is in the Vikings plans, it's unlikely it's this year.

My solace: Rick wouldn't have done this without consulting Zimmer and getting the green light.

Well, if Easton is as good as (an optimistic/dreaming read of) the blurbs posted above suggest, this could be a great trade.

Otherwise, though... eeesh. Trade your starting MLB for an UDFA rookie lineman? That doesn't make much sense.

Wonder if this means we'll be seeing Edmond Robinson on the field sometime soon.

Unlike o-linemen, for me, a linebacker going unnoticed isn't a good thing.

I don't mind this move, at least not in theory. I haven't seen Easton play... but I like the idea of trying to address our lack of depth at OL.

A lot of us wanted them to draft a lineman in the 2nd this year, but we got Kendricks instead, who I think is already showing lots of promise. I see this as balancing the scales a bit.

Hodges got owned against the 49ers (IMO) and has yielded snaps to Kendricks ever since.

Exactly. That's what I said above. Kendricks has gradually outplayed him this year

Agreed and now that gives us depth at the guard spots. Both guards have played well IMO. It was center and RT that were our problems. A lot of pressure Teddy faced was because of Berger

I honestly don't see him playing this year, from my understanding reading analyst pages and scouts. Teams are very hesitant to change up oline rotation in the middle of the year. I expect this guy to get some rotation time in but I doubt he will be starting until next year, if at all. The Hodges trade doesn't bother me all that much as this is the first time in a very long time that we have had this much depth.
