I had no idea we actually drafted Dhalsim.

Can't see I disagree.
@christomasson Harrison Smith on Spielman “He’s always making moves. He’s probably the most exciting GM to watch on draft day (more so than Kevin Costner?)

Leading up to the draft, I wasn't sure if the Vikings would pick up Kalil's option. After drafting three lineman, I was sure they were preparing to move on. I think just based on his contract hit they must be pretty sure they can rely on him, but something still seems screwy with this whole situation.

Maybe they just thought each of those tackles were BPA by a long shot when they were picking?

Assuming that the guys they just drafted prove capabale, it will be a situation of quality depth along the line. Something we haven't had in many years. Considering how huge of an impact the injuries there had last year, it's a solid investment even if Kalil gets back on track and plays for 10 years as the LT.

Maybe...I think it speaks primarily to the hole at left guard and how they feel about their depth on the o-line.

Kalil played pretty well down the stretch last year so I think the fans and media are more concerned about him than the Vikes themselves.

I'm honestly not convinced the injuries made such a huge impact, although losing Fusco hurt. I didn't think Loadholt was playing all that well before he went down. The line looked pretty lousy against NE when they were healthy and they didn't look too great against NO either. Honestly, I've felt they were an overrated unit for years, especially in pass protection, where they've been sub-standard for a long, long time now (at least in my estimation).

@Jim
I don't necessarily disagree about the actual quality of the starters.

The injuries forced them to plug in other guys who made it even worse.

If the new guys supplant any of the current group I'll see it as a positive.

Personally, I like the idea of having a couple of swing players, including a guy that can adequately play center.

I'm not thinking this line is fixed by this years picks...but I do think it's a significant step in the right direction.
