The rumor is coming from Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports and the Bleacher Report. Take that for what it's worth. It wouldn't be surprising if it was true since Peterson grew up a Cowboys fan and would probably like to play in the south, in his home state, where people are likely to be more sympathetic towards him. However, Cole seems an unlikely 'insider" to have this particular scoop.
According to him, the Vikings do not want to trade Peterson to Dallas. My guess is if they're going to trade him at all, they'd prefer to trade him to an AFC team.

The vengeful, salty, butt hurt fan in me says trade him to an AFC cellar dweller for whatever we can get. Screw the Cowboys and screw Adrian - that is if this is true.
Vengeful, salty butt hurt Vikings fans will probably enjoy this column by Tom Powers, although it seemed almost laughably provincial to me:

I don't think there's much danger of the Vikes releasing Peterson. He still has too much value for that. I won't be surprised if all of this blows over and he still ends up playing for the Vikings. If it doesn't, we may see a standoff because they know he still has serious value in the league and they have him under contract.

What is interesting is in the video, Cole never says that AD requested a trade. Just that he wants to play for Dallas. He also never said when he heard this information.
Who knows. This would really hurt me as a Viking fan, so I am certain it is true. Just once, I would like to have something like this not be even close to true. I would want AD to com out and say "That is not true, I am committed to Minnesota." Is that so much to ask?

I think he'll be back but if this thing is beyond repair, I'd look at a team like the Colts. They're a potential contender that plays in a dome and has an owner/GM willing to roll the dice. I could see them being interested in Peterson and him being interested in them.

Trade him to Dallas and move on. The team is better in the short term with him, but they aren't going to be top of the league competitive for another couple years or more. So get a piece or two that has a chance of being around for the better part of the next decade.
Funny, wasn't it just last off season this same thing came up or whenever that article was with him talking up his future and looking beyond the Vikings to the Cowboys...even before his most recent bonehead comments.

Anything less than a 1st and a 2nd for him would be disappointing IMO.

Assuming that he is coming back I would not be concerned in the slightest about his energy or his fitness.

Because the similar thread seemed to have turned into this already
To whom would you trade and what would be your minimum value?
For me he goes to an AFC team unless we get a Herschelesque offer (extremely doubtful) from an NFC team
IMO the trade weights go as follows;
Draft picks
team (AFCvNFC, on schedule next year v not)
players (unless the offer was something obviously too good to be true; Gronk, Sherman, etc)
Color of the sky
Weather
what I had for breakfast
Adrian's preference
That last bit may seem vengeful but who honestly feels that we should just send AP to Dallas no matter what the offer is? I am sorry but if the Browns give us a 1st rounder and a 3rd rounder and maybe even some conditional pick AP is gonna be a Brown. He Goes to Dallas if Dallas gives us far and away the best deal.

I am a bit confused. I thought AP and the Vikings cannot talk until this NFL/Court business is resolve. So how can he request a trade?

Peterson to Dallas might be tough to swing given their cap situation.
One trade that could make some sense is Peterson to Tampa Bay.
They have a couple of high priced players they have been rumored to cut this offseason and there are connections between all those players and the team they could be traded to. Peterson was close with Frazier, Jackson played for Norv, Michael Johnson played for Zimmer. All three of those guys are "overpaid" based on market value or performance. Add in that this draft is weak at 4-3 DE, and a guy like Johnson could have a more premium value to the Vikings who have a hole at one DE position they probably can't find an immediate solution to in the draft. Maybe Tampa throws in Doug Martin who regressed last year and that could work out well for everyone.
You could kind of get into an NBA type trade scenario here that is very unlikely, but a guy like Robison is a better fit in TBs defense than The Vikings. Older guys or guys on the last year of their deal (greenway, kalil?) might also have more value to Tampa than to the vikings.
The rare player for player type of trade, though very unlikely, does seem at least like a remote possibility between these two teams.

It would probably be possible through his agent but I doubt it happened, at least not formally.

Let's trade him to the Jets or the Titans. Or the Browns lol. Then let's see how mad he is at the organization.

ESPN's Josina Anderson reports Adrian Peterson has not asked for a trade to the Cowboys.
Bleacher Report's Jason Cole mentioned Saturday that Peterson asked for a trade to Dallas, but the Vikings were unwilling to accommodate him. Anderson's source says that never happened and that Peterson hasn't spoken with Vikings GM Rick Spielman. Where Peterson plays in 2015 will be one of the defining stories of the offseason.
....I had a feeling that report wasn't true

I had the same feeling. Anything from Thr Bleacher Report" needs to be read with a grain of salt. We will see what happens.

So he just made it up? Unlikely. More likely some contact of him let him know it was being communicated. But because they can't have contact no one involved can actually come out and say it. Remember Spielman/reports when the Harvin thing was going down? Let's hope he can keep the value up and get something worthwhile in this deal too!

No, but they could have just heard someone say "Remember when AD told Jerry Jones he wanted to play for Dallas?" And the reporter ran with it.
Then again, it could be legit... but I don't believe it just yet. It's too soon after the his infamous interview.
