I think all emoticons should be banned. They primarily get used for smart assery and being a dick in general on VMB, IMO.

Note: I'm legitimately laughing. No smart assery here.

Lol, I got you. I was more referring to the wink emoticon used when people are 'posting down' to other users. Kind of the 'acceptable' way of saying, 'get it, you stupid ####?' And that 'confused' emoticon. It always comes off as 'what the #### are you talking about, ####?'PacificNorseWest wrote:

You may be reading too much into them. I think the "confused" emoticon is intended to convey the kind of confusion you're talking about above but you're adding the profanities yourself.frosted21 wrote:Lol, I got you. I like using the wink emoticon as a way of indicating that I'm kidding about something, that it's not to be taken seriously. I don't think of it as a way of being condescending.
Personally, I've always thought the emoticons served a valuable function. They're the closest thing to body language and non-verbal communication we have online.

I understand too and it can be frustrating but it also sounds like frosted21 might be projecting a negative connotation onto some things that may not merit such a connotation. Anyway, people seem to enjoy using the emoticons (I certainly find them useful) so unless there's an overwhelming amount of feedback to ditch them, I'm guessing they're here to stay.PacificNorseWest wrote:I get what he's saying...It is kinda of frustrating.

I'm not a huge fan of the emoticon either, it does leave a degree of ambiguity and certain ones do convey a sense of, "I don't give a ####."
For me it really depends on how its employed. If someone is going to write a couple paragraphs or even a few sentences and sprinkle in some emoticons, cool. But quoting someone and adding just a

As Moth implied, it's good to laugh. I try to do it often! As I say, a sense of humor is a must if you're a Vikings fan. If you don't learn to laugh things off, you'll go insane.

I like Teddy as much as anyone. Wanted him since the beginning of last year. When we got him (despite not tanking for him) I was extremely happy. And now it looks like taking Barr first is working out (just hope he can cover, because Greenway cant). But why would you want us to switch QBs when Cassel has outstanding numbers and a win? Teddy has years to be our QB.

If you don't like the thread Click somewhere else.... It's pretty simple
Why waste time to post in a thread you claim is meaningless?
Especially the guy who says "Is this thread closed yet" ..... You seriously took the time to post that message? LOL
Get out if you don't wanna participate.. Seriously
This is especially for J.Kapp.................
I've stated on multiple occassions I will root just as hard for Matt as any of you. I wish no injury upon any player in the NFL. I hope we go 16-0 under Cassel.
That said, I have an opinion and I don't just spread the butter.
I'm just excited for our football team - So, sorry if you don't like what I'm posting. You don't have to click it

Re: Official: What reason does Ted get the start? thread
First, I never said anything about injury. I asked if you would rather the Vikings would lose so that Teddy can play. I've seen it time after time on this and other boards. Guys who not only want their team to win, but also to have their guy play. It's a legitimate question.28BreaksAnkles wrote:This is especially for J.Kapp.................

Second, you have to admit that you've gone out of your way to tell us that Teddy should start over Cassel in virtually every thread where either is mentioned. So when you create a thread to say what you've said over and over, well, that's perfectly within your right -- it's also my right to ask whether we need a poll to validate your opinion. A poll, by the way, that assumes something that may not be close to happening.
Third, if I want to click on this thread, I will.

Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.
