Already voted for the Miracle at the Met, but the other two choices are just silly. I think the age(s) of the Viking fans are the real telling story, here. If you actually saw the 'Miracle at the Met' there is no contest.

I definitely think the choices reflect the age of the people who made the nominations. When I asked Ben Goessling (on Twitter) who made the nominations, he responded:

Took nominations from fans on Twitter for a week. Also, for this project, "memorable" does not equal "good."

I don't know where this took place on Twitter but apparently, it happened.

WTF is this? If they wanted negative plays, they may as well have put Antonio Freeman's catch in there too.

Right off the top of my head I can think of four great plays within the last 10 years: What about Greg Lewis' TD during the week three contest against San Fran? What about Moss to Moe Williams against Denver in 2003? What about Harvin's catch when he made three Green Bay Packers take themselves out? Cordarrelle's 109 yard KR TD against Green Bay?

Last option for this stupid thing. Below still inexplicably ranked #1.

I learned to never take ESPN seriously about anything, especially after they said that Allen signed with Seattle when he hadn't yet. Ben Goessling, their beat writer for the Vikings, is awful. He's a horrible writer and his opinions suck (he thought Freeman was a good QB and was certain that Frazier was going to play him before the end of the year). He tends to make up facts to support his crazy opinions. I could do his job better than he could. Actually, anyone on here would be a better writer than that idiot. Ben was the one who decided on these stupid memorable plays that aren't even that memorable. I saw him ask for ideas on Twitter but it sounded like he already knew what plays he was going to use for the poll before he even asked for ideas (he mentioned that the plays could be bad in his tweet). It pretty much shows you what Ben really thinks of the Vikings.

Well unfortunately "the miss" is the clear front runner so far. I understand negative plays can be memorable, but I thought it was in poor taste to include them in these polls. I think by now every team should have plenty enough positive plays to choose from for something like this.

For most of the teams, most of the memorable plays were positive. The Jets and Vikings had 2 negative each, but the poor Bills got shafted with 3 negative plays lol. 2 of the Falcons, and 2 of the Chiefs memorable plays were against the Vikings. The only positive plays for the Vikings in the entire thing was against Detroit, when QB Dan Orlovsky ran out of the back of the end zone for a safety. I can't even begin to understand how or why that play was included in the Lions poll. Stafford has had a couple of nice last second game winning TD's they could have chosen instead.

The reality is that if you've never won a Super Bowl, you don't have a big play that many people are going to remember (short of someone dropping dead during a game). Fans voted, but probably only a small fraction were Vikings fans, so some play to win a meaningless division title 30 years ago, or a play in a win to put the Vikings into a Super Bowl where they subsequently got their #### kicked, isn't likely to be remembered by anyone outside Minnesota.

The Miss is the obvious answer.

It wasn't the "meaningless" title, it was the shear unlikeliness of the play. (Similar to Favre's last second TD against SF)

Not saying it wasn't an amazing play and an amazing finish to a game, but it ended up being pretty meaningless. Few people other than Vikings or Browns fans would have much chance of remembering the play. The Vikings won the division that year with a 9-7 record and then went one-and-done in the playoffs.

Look at all of the other NFL teams' top plays and most occurred in winning Super Bowls or else playoff games leading to a Super Bowl win.
