Also I think our new coaching staff has the ability to make Ponder a better QB, yea I know Im sounding like a Ponder apologist but, It's the off season now and I cant but only reflect on the games he played pretty good IMO like the 49ers and the Texans in 2012. I know its a weak argument and I think the vikes should still be in the hunt of a QB.

I think there's probably some truth to that, but where do we stick him when we draft our QB?

Loki wrote:smoothoperator thats not even a logical option, Vikings are guaranteed to bring in a rookie at some point in the draft. So under you're assumption either we keep 4 QB's or we cut Christian or Freeman. Christian is guaranteed 3 million and im sure Freeman would get at least a mill. Half of The reason i like trading for Pryor is it gets Ponder off of our team without having to eat his 3 mill. and sorry to break it to you but Freeman is equally as bad, the thing that makes him worse is he doesn't care anymore cuz he's made enough money. His teamates spoke out against him and his work ethic after last season was over... so no Freemans not coming back.
Break my heart? Your clearly missed the point. Also, not to mention Freemans career stats are far, far better than both Ponder and Pryor combined, so I have no idea where you are coming from.

Your proposed trade is just as outlandish as Freeman returning here, actually Freeman would be more likely in my mind. Anyway it was just a hypothetical statement just as your trade proposal, but I guess you couldn't figure that out.

 I understand why you'd say that but it's crazy that things have reached the point where simply saying something as innocuous as "I think our new coaching staff has the ability to make Ponder a better QB" might make you look like a Ponder apologist.

They should but it's not a weak argument. It's the exact same argument fans are using when it comes to the defense. There's a palpable expectation in Vikingsland that Zimmer's coaching will help improve the defense. Why couldn't an experienced coach like Turner, who has had success working with a number of QBs, help Ponder get better?

Lol. Really? This is a good one. Let's trade one piece of crap, mix in one of our draft picks, for another piece of crap.

At least he has some potential. The chances of Pryor improving are significantly better than Ponder improving.

Ponder got Spielman's idiotic 35 starts to prove he's a noodle armed gun shy scrub. And that was after all that college experience. And NOW he's going to get it because Norv Turner and Family has such a great record with coaching up quarterbacks.

Not that I'd want either of them.

Loki wrote:The Vikings are in desperate need of a young QB with some potential, the fan base has grown tired of mediocrity at the position with no signs of potential growth. While many look to the draft for answers this year is not particularly strong at QB and it's out of our hands (barring a trade up) if we get one of the consensus top QB's. News came out recently that with the signing of Matt Schuab Terrelle Pryor has asked the Oakland Raiders for a trade. Now of course i don't know what his value would be but based on his play assumptions can be made. I like the idea of the Vikings packaging Christian Ponder and a 6th round pick for Terrelle Pryor. Christian has stated his unhappiness with not starting, as has Pryor, so I think a fresh start for both sides would be good. Pryor is an athletic freak at 6'6 230, runs a 4.4 40 and has a very strong arm. He has struggled throwing the ball at times, and while a good portion of that rests on his shoulders there are many factors involved. Raiders offensive line was ranked 29th out of 32 and his receiving core was terrible, Denarious Moore is the best of the bunch and he is wildly inconsistent. With Norvs reputation as a QB guru it makes Pryor a very intriguing prospect. This trade would likely be contingent upon Ponders willingness to restructure his contract, but I just wanted to put it out there and see what everyones opinions are on it.
Pryor is terrible. As bad as Ponder is -- and I sure don't want him -- I think I'd rather see him than Pryor at QB.

Ponder could Potentially become a decent backup with good coaching, maybe, maybe not. Why trade for somebody just as bad or worse?

Good grief and what the hell? The Vikings are trying to go in a winning direction. What in the world did you see that signing Pryor would make this a better team? I would rather pay Ponder. I celebrated the day he left Columbus, I sure don't want to endure more of his inadequacies. His ceiling was achieved in high school.

Actually, I think Joe might be better then both of them in the right situation. :D

sorry for bringing it up lol apparently everyone here thinks Ponder has a better future in the nfl and that he's worth his $3 million Guaranteed contract, I guess thats why everyone has there own opinion. There's only like a 5% chance this trade actually happens anyways so i'm not to butt hurt about it lol. but let me say this, when all of you are clamoring for some undrafted raw QB with a cannon arm to make the team as 3rd sting/Developmental QB and we have to eat Ponders $3 mill I'll be there to say I told ya so.

Pryor?

No way. The only quarterback that's out there that is possibly a feasible option and that I'd actually want, would be Cousins.
