I am not too worried about their skill set but I am worried about our coaches being able to coach them properly and put together schemes that utilize their talents appropriately. I don't care so much if the rookies make mistakes. They're rookies. I do care if the coaches can correct those mistakes. And quite frankly I don't have the confidence that they can.

I am concerned about the price we paid for Patterson, and that he hasn't been implemented, at all really. He doesn't have to be just a slot, or play behind Simpson. He can play for Wright too. Jennings and Patterson should be on the field more. The 2 TE set has to go. Now. Don't care if it worked last year. We need to use our premium pick now. Once they get a load of Patterson, and see what he can do, the holes will be there for AD.

i think they have thrown the ball to patterson a grand total of 8 times this year, its pathetic. anyone who watched him i the preseason knows he has the ability, and his return yardage is impressive like everyone thought. who cares if driver and simpson are 1 and 2, make patterson the 3rd and get him some reps.

Yeah. It's pretty cool to see the other guys' highlights all the time, too: K. Allen, Hopkins, Woods, Hunter... Game-winning touchdowns even. It's pretty cool to see all those guys making plays for their teams and "the best receiver from the draft" and the guy we moved up for do...about nothing. Oh, except for watch kickoffs fly over his head out of the end zone.

Deandre Hopkins is who I wanted, he was the most polished college WR and could make an impact immediately. Patterson was labeled raw and a 1st rounder on him was really banking on his long term potential. As an anti-draft Patterson guy, he's exceeded my expectations but this comes down entirely to stubbornly running multiple tight end sets out of comfort compared to utilizing the talent and adapting the scheme to favor more 3 wide receiver sets.

Instead we're going with the "let's hope Adrian goes for 2100+ and save's our sorry #### career's again" formations.

So far, I would say I'd rather have Keenan Allen in the 3rd round and some sweet line backer in the 2nd over the Patterson trade up but ah well.

Keenan Allen, another potential pick by many Minnesota fans, has been lighting it up in San Diego as of late as well. Hard to image either one of them getting much more action here, had they been drafted instead of Patterson. As odd as it is to type, we no longer seem to be hurting at receiver. It will be interesting to see which of these receivers (including the equally unimpressive/underutilized Tavon Austin) will have the better careers. My thoughts are Simpson is gone next season (though the Vikings may extend him a contract below his perceived value) and Patterson is the starter. Hopefully he lives up to his potential.

I'm just hoping that the coaching incompetence this year doesn't ruin the potential of our rookie class.

Can we please get a real coach and play callers? I didn't drop $180 on Sunday Ticket to see us lose to Little Sisters of the Poor.

Considering Harrison smith is the only first rounder in the Spielman era that looks like a for true starter, their is a part of me that fears we have thrown away nearly a decade worth of drafts.

Im a nervous too. Lots of talent but hasn't really translated to too much yet...

I'm pretty sure Harvin qualifies. And it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early to judge Rhodes, Floyd and Patterson.

Right, I think people need to chll out and have a little faith, epecially when it comes to Floyd, I really think this guy is going to be something special.

Although, I admit, it is rather annoying to see our cross border rival completely fix their running game issues by lucking into a running back that should have been long gone by the time they drafted him, while we are still floundering trying to pull a Starting QB out of thin air.

They'd have to be allowed to play to even consider how they'll turn out.

So what I am gathering from everyone is not too much different than what I stated earlier.


Like I said in my OP, it is too early to panic. However, there is some reason for concern. Have we ever got a definitive receiver as to why Cordarrelle isn't seeing more snaps? I am curious, because I haven't heard anything about it. Maybe I am expecting too much from Shariff because he was a 'top 5' talent that dropped. I guess I just expected more dominance from him. I hope Xavier starts from here on out. It is clear to me that he is our 'best' corner (I shudder just saying that statement).


To reiterate, my intention wasn't to go into full blown panic. I am just concerned/disappointed in our draft thus far. Obviously, a lot can change in the next 11 weeks and the next couple of years.

Kalil, harvin and AD ring a bell?

In fact since spielman's been around, we've only missed on one first rounder. (That being ponder of course)

Harvin is no longer on the team, and barely started half the time when he was. Kalil is getting burned every other snap, any other team he would be a rt or riding the bench.
