I think McCarron is going to wind up as Ponder Part 2 in the NFL. I agree he looked the part against A&M, but he's another guy who seems to take a step back for every step he takes forward. He struggles with accuracy and has some of the same issues reading the field as Ponder. Of course, if he can put in more performances like he did yesterday, he can make some of that chatter disappear. If he does, he'll have a good chance to go in the 1st round. He has the tools to be a solid starter as a pro.

I'd say even if McCarron has a solid year, he's a #20-30 draft prospect. If the Vikes did finish with 5 wins, that means they'd most likely be drafting in that 5-10 window, so McCarron would be a big reach unless they could trade down.

it doesn't matter where we draft, their will be QB's avaliable. Kaeprnick was a 2nd rounder and Wilson a 3rd (i believe anyway) so guys will be there. I know everyones down on the team right now but i'd put money on not finishing with a top 5 pick. 6-10, 7-9 is not going to get there and I think it's likely we'll get to the 8-8 mark once we start playing some home games. (we've never been good on the road so to be 0-2 after 2 road games isn't exactly a surprise.)

On top of that we need LB's even more than we need a QB so it may just work out better for us if we get a later round QB instead of reaching for Ponder part 2.

There are plenty of big name young college football players you don't hear a peep about. You hear an entire horn section blaring around Manziel. He's going to get killed in the NFL. But watching him...yeah he does look like Favre/Tarkenton etc out there getting by on moxie...and seems like making his own luck. He has some talent around him as well which always help (see; Tebow)

We need a new OC, and a new QB. Hopefully we're finally through with this shrink the field west coast crap and ex-OCs who've never called a play before. To go with noodle armed "west coast" quasi-athletes.

If they take Manziel, and bring in a run/option look that's all the rage. Great. Knowing Spielman he'll bring in another west coast guy to keep things transitioning smoothly...if he still has a job.

And he will cost the team that takes him 3-4 years of mediocrity at the q/b position and who wants to waste 3-4 years playing someone at a key position when its clear that he is not qualified to do so..........ooops, never mind

He makes something out of nothing, has confidence, a very good if not great arm, and he does not shrink away from big games. He has so many of the "intangibles" you look for in a QB that it's ridiculous. Will he be a great NFL QB, or even a good NFL QB? I don't know for sure, but there are plenty of signposts pointing in that direction. What shows that he WON'T be a success?

And let me be clear, I am no fan of his off-field issues. In fact, they are the only reason I question his ability to make it in the NFL. But not so much that it overshadows his on-field ability.

I can't believe anyone seriously digging on Manziel's skills.

There are reasons not to like him. I hated him before I ever watched him play, because everything he did was on the radion 24/7.

I don't know if I'd like the guy or if he's coachable, but he is really talented in all the best ways IMO.

I'd still rather have MariOta. 6'5" 4.5 speed...big accurate arm. Nice Hawaiian kid.

It would be first for the Vikings to pick 1st in the draft. The only time they ever did it was their first year.
