Osborn was born in 1943 and Young was born in 1953. This picture does not look as if Young is 10 years "yongER" than Osborn.losperros wrote:How about Rickey Young? Take a look at the Google photos. He looks like the guy on the left to me.

Re: need your help
The other guy could be John Henderson, a wideout who played 5-6 years in Detroit before finishing up with the Vikes. Can't seem to find any decent pics of him though.
maybe it's John Gilliam http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&gs_r ... 66&bih=607
Either way I think I'm gonna refer to him as John.

Re: need your help
i wondered about Henderson too but I couldn't find a good picture of him.
Rickey Young is an interesting guess but he and Osborn were never teammates so that seems unlikely to me. Young didn't become a Viking until 1978, after Osborn had retired.

Re: need your help
Definitely not Gilliam. He had a very narrow face. The mystery continues. It sure ain't Marinaro!
Re: need your help
I understand that, but I thought he did look younger than Osborne in the photo. However, looking at it now, maybe not.Purple bruise wrote: Osborn was born in 1943 and Young was born in 1953. This picture does not look as if Young is 10 years "yongER" than Osborn.
Folks, I'm stumped. Could he be a player from another sport? Baseball, maybe?
Seriously, do we know for certain that the guy on the left is another Viking?
Re: need your help
Just viewed a photo of the 1971 team. Might be RB Leo Hayden. He's wearing no.44. Two yrs before Foreman made 44 famous.
Re: need your help
I have uploaded a 1975 Team Picture. (Click on the pic to enlarge)

It looks to me like it is Brent McClanahan (#33) on the left and Dave Osborn (#41) on the right. (I've circled the two players in red. Note the very similar hair style for Osborn). Ironically, they are next to each other in this team photo and in the submitted B&W it looks like McClanahan is shorter than Osborn. This seems to be confimed in the team picture as well. I'd say I'm 90% certain this is Osborn and only about 50-60% certain the other is McClanahan, but that's what I'd go with...

Re: need your help
I'm 99% sure it's Osborn and I think it is McClanahan too. He's the closest fit IMO. His eyebrows and nose seem to match up. I'm still going to call him John though, John McClanahan....mystery solved.Just Me wrote:I have uploaded a 1975 Team Picture. (Click on the pic to enlarge)

I think you're right. That probably is Brent McClanahan. When I first did a Google Image search for him, I didn't look at enough images and dismissed him too quickly. However, after looking at the team image you posted I dug deeper and found this site:

The two B&W portrait shots in particular show a distinct resemblance to the man on the left in the picture above. I think you've solved the mystery!
Re: need your help
Yes, I think it's Brent McClanahan now. Whew! I was about to have sleepless nights over this mystery.Mothman wrote:
