And its also him who shut the Vikings.com message board down. Im guessing because there were no moderators and forum was pretty much dead after the offseason. If he would have listened to our suggestions, the forum would probably still be here. But that forum was a mess.

Luckily we have more OTA's today. So we will maybe see 2 or 3 one minute videos today. Unlike other teams who have 5-6 minute video coverages.

Sounds like more of a staffing/budget issue for the Vikings. I don't know if there ever could be enough content produced, especially during the offseason. What have you seen, content-wise, on other teams' pages that is missing from vikings.com?

The first thing I noticed is that some teams seem to have a bigger budget to work with when it comes to their website. A lot of teams I seen have as much as 16 organized categories for their videos. From what I have seen:

-The coaches have their own segment.
-Most draft picks (draft picks outside of the 1st round) have been interviewed on video unlike ours where they were interview via phone.
-Lots of interviews from current players were conducted in the locker-room. And this is after EVERY practice.
-Press conferences from star players and coaches conducted atleast once a week recapping practiced.
-Alumni players have their own segment
- Then of course guys like Mike Wobschall have their own segment, I think ours is called "Pick 6," or something.
- Then they have exclusive content section where they basically take us on an adventure and less us fans see a little bit of how our players live off the field. The Vikings were doing that a little bit last year around training camp with last years draft picks.
- Then theirs the community outreach section. Even we seem to be pretty much ok in that department.
- There's another section where they would interview atleast one player each week (during the regular season) to discuss the last weeks game, and preview the upcoming game
-Another sections keeps up with the future prospects of next years draft.


All in all, there is plenty to talk about during both the off-season and regular season. I'm not doubting Mike's creditability as a fan. But these other guys seem to be die hard fans who lived and breathe to bring some type new update about the team every day.

Maybe it's something you should contact the team about and encourage them to provide more content. Mike may be doing all he can.

I see this. I don't watch other teams' pages so maybe there is more done elsewhere. From the first OTA there are interviews with five players.

That happens. They talk about practice and game preparations. These are all posted to vikings.com. The press conferences are covered in the corresponding tab.

Yikes. That one sounds like a lot of work. Pretty sure that's not touched much until after the season. Do you have an example of this one?

To me it seems very much YMMV. I suppose I have nothing to compare Wobschall's job to (haven't looked at other teams' pages), but there seems to be a good amount of content.

Wobschall also spends a significant amount of time with Paul Allen, I think the latter mentors him some.

I don't mind him that much. Sure he gets a bit homer-ish, but whatever, there are plenty of over the top critics on KFAN like Common and Barriero. Like all media you have to read their content and then think for yourself.

To me it seems very much YMMV. I suppose I have nothing to compare Wobschall's job to (haven't looked at other teams' pages), but there seems to be a good amount of content.

I should have been more specific. Most of these segments are weekly. The ones on our website are annually. After OTAs and training camp we wont get much content than that. During the season We wont get much than game highlights and after game presses. Maybe 1 Hotel interview and one after game interview from Jared Allen or Peterson. We wont get any coverage from practice. I know they have the monday press, then the wednesday press from the other coaches. But from the players themselves, we dont see much coverage from them. All we here is the coaches opinion about them or Mike's

Like what? Most of the segments I mentioned are weekly (Pick 6, Winning Formula, Vikings Derby, Under the Lights. Hotel interviews I believe are done at every away game). He also does a weekly podcast (Wobcast).

I'm not for sure about this but reporters may not get access to in-week practices. There might be a reason for this. Also, they have the during-the-week press conferences. Do other teams have video of in-season practice? I'm pretty sure there's reporter access to the locker rooms following practice, though. I don't recall Wobschall doing much with that, though.

The players are available for comment (whether or not they answer or talk to reporters or give them anything of substance is another matter). There are several segments listed above that are purely focused on players. What kind of coverage are you looking for? I'd recommend looking to other sources (ESPN1500, Star Trib, Siefert, etc.) if you're hurting for in-season player coverage.

Seriously, though, please post some links of things you think other teams are doing well and vikings.com/Wobschall are lacking.

The guy is a tad bit slow, though. I emailed him about the Vikings.com message board being shut down. He didn't even realize Vikings.com had a message board. He had no clue what I was talking about. ...yeah. Odd. Vikings.com isn't that big and fancy to be unaware that it had an official message board for a couple of years, especially when you work for the site and are probably on it quite often. He's something...something else. Either way, he's super lucky.

When he does update with new content, it is very LITTLE coverage. I agree with the other posters, I bet there are other fans out here who will kill to have his job and would provide us with more content than that nerd does.

He always emailed me back when I wrote him. I guess I'm special like that. With that said, his replies were nonsense because he was clueless--quite literally. lol. You know as well as I do that message board was there for about two years. He didn't know it was there. lol. REALLY!??! I know im not crazy but I could have sworn HE was the one that introduce the new Vikings message board in one of his blogs a couple of years ago. Then again they did wipe off the message board like it never existed so maybe he was told to pretend like he never existed. So not only is he a nerd, a mediocre reporter, but a cornball as well. He needs to step down and someone else do it. I know there's someone out there that can do his job well and some.

Interesting. It wouldn't surprise me one bit. Like I said, he's a little...off. You seem bitter towards him. lol. It's funny. I'm still bitter about the fact that no one knows what the heck happened to our message board and why. It was so cheap and lame. They can't act like it was "work" to keep it up and running. Yeesh. The Vikings are cheap! I had a 15 minute conversation with SKOLT (member of the VWO, and he helped run/monitor WAVF) at the second draft party and we talked about WAVF shutting down and then the Vikings.com message board doing the same. To make a long story short: WAVF shut down because the Vikings are cheap. That is irritating. I guess us little ol' blogging fans don't mean much. lol.

Yes I do have some bitterness towards him. Im not saying that he's the WORST reporter out there, I mean he does have his facts together. But when it comes to improvements around the site, he is lazy. Unless he has more than 1 job, his primary job should be getting us FULL updates as they come available. Not little crappy 2-3 one minute videos a week. Later Im going to post videos I seen from other teams to show you guys what real coverage is..lol
