Floyd told Tom P that he can put on up to 30lbs from the 300 he weighs now. Dropped weight to play for speed at Florida.

I would prefer him to play next to Kevin Williams but it seems like they want him to play behind K. Williams. Hopefully they will change this decision. 1st round talent should be on the field. And then rotate him to Kevin Williams spot once Williams need a breather.

I don't know about Floyd only being K-Will's replacement. I think we'll get our wish and see Floyd and Williams playing side-by-side this year.

Bottom line, if Floyd comes out of the gate playing well right away, then the Vikings will want him on the field.

This could be some serious pass rush now. For years the Vikings were always very good against the run, slipping here recently. Hopefully now that will shore up and it will very exciting to see line with Williams, Floyd, Allen, Robison,and Ballard in there on 3rd and long.

I think guys have to keep in mind that playing the 1-tech or "nose" and playing the 3-tech or "undertackle" are two very different positions, so it really depends on the down and distance. Sharrif's skill set and ability is not suited ideally to play the nose, so I don't believe we'll see a lot of him in that position, as he would likely struggle to do what's asked of him at that spot. You have to look at it as sort of the difference between Pat and Kevin Williams, and what each of them excel at. It's the same reason we rarely saw Christian Ballard next to Williams other than on obvious passing downs. I think we'll see Floyd and Kevin on the field together in passing downs, and I think we'll see a lot of Floyd in rotation at the 3-tech spot to lighten the load for KWill, but I don't believe we'll see a regular dose of the two on the field together, as they play the same position. Think of it similarly to the situation with Wright and Harvin, or why you can't just plug and play Charlie Johnson at LT.

The only real situation I could see a lot of Floyd and KWill on the field together is if Floyd develops quickly at the 3-tech spot where they feel comfortable with him starting in place of Kevin. And then they decided Williams provides a better player at the nose than Letroy Guion or Fred Evans. Because I do believe Kevin could play effectively at nose tackle, even though he's better at 3-tech and his skill set is a bit wasted in the 1-tech.

Floyd is generally seen as a guy who should be playing K Williams' position and not Big Pat's. I would be reluctant to try to turn him into a different kind of player simply because K Will is on the team next year. I'd rather that he apprentice under Kevin for one year, spot the big guy when Kevin needs a rest, play a bit next to Kevin in obvious passing situations, and then show up like the starting under-tackle we know he can be in 2014.

Obviously, I will take ALL of that back if Floyd's career trajectory would be at its best if he were a developed as a nose tackle. But I wouldn't let Kevin Williams' appearance on this roster influence that decision. Kevin is near the end of his career. At this point, he's decent, but not much better than that. I say that he only has one more year in the starting lineup of the Vikings. That's not enough to mess with Floyd's development. Floyd is a big part (in more ways than one) of the Vikings' future.

I think Floyd is young and versatile enough to play all the positions within the line and it will be fun to watch how they integrate him into the D. If he can disrupt in more ways than one, I am onboard with that.

This is good to hear. sounds like he can control his weight and we may never hear the term "star caps" again.

I expect Floyd to be the starting 3 technique by week 5 if not immediately, and they'll move Kwill over to nose IF they think that's an upgrade, otherwise Kwill will play the nose on 3rd down and give Floyd a rest every now and then at the 3 technique to keep both guys fresh.
