I was going to bring that up too about how the players voted for this list, but I don't think they're immune to criticism at all, if anything I would take everything with a grain of salt. Guys might vote for their friends or teammates, but they aren't going to have any more insight than the media or even fans. if anything reputation in the locker room is going to carry farther, otherwise their knowledge of players will be the same as us. It's not like players spend 7 days a week watching every game in the NFL. They watch tape of upcoming opponents and more specifically the offenses and defenses they will face and then they go home and live their lives while fans pour over every sports show and website. BIG grain of salt to take with this list.
You really think the guys that play the game aren't going to know a little more then the fans? I mean, really? They don't have to watch every game in the NFL seven days a week, they already know more about the game then the fans, or at least the majority of fans.
I see what your saying how some guys might vote for their friends and such, but at the same time, its not like it is made public who voted for who, and don't you think the fans would be even more bias if they were the ones voting rather then the players themselves? Im not saying your completely wrong, im just saying there really isn't a more adequate way to compose such a list, coaches, players, and especially fans, are always never going to be 100% objective.
If this list was left up to the fans it would be about 75% Packers/Steelers/49ers/Cowboys, Im not saying you suggested that or anything, im simply saying that such a subjective list is never going to be 100% accurate, and that while I agree that this list should be taken with a grain of salt, it is as reliable as a way to compose a list of the top 100 players as it could realistically be.
BTW, completely unrelated, why is your username GBFavrefan? I mean, your obviously a Vike fan, whats with the 'GB'? Or were you one of those people that followed Lord Bert himself to every team he went out of some Misguided sense of loyalty or something?

"Lord Bert"...
GBFavreFan came over in the Great Favre Migration of '09. If I recall correctly, he lives (or lived?) in the GB area, hence the name.

Ah, that would explain things!

And we fans have seen more of the Vikings players play than most players in the NFL. They might see AD once or twice in prime time and never watch a snap of his that isn't a highlight on sports center. Same goes for most NFL players. Some of which have said they don't watch games at all that isn't tape of an upcoming opponent. They know more about the game, but may not have watched a single snap of plenty of players. How can they possibly know how good any player is if they've seen 7 snaps of them on the field?
I think like a lot of lists they take team success into consideration too much. Suddenly players on super bowl teams or playoff teams jump up the list, not because they're better then before, but because there team was. And in some cases because no one even noticed they were still in the league until their team made a playoff/super bowl run.

It's all popularity too. MJD and Troy Polamalu were on the list and they maybe played a combined 8 games?

I may get ripped, but I don't think Peterson gets the No. 1 spot. He'll definitely move up from his eighth position last year, but I don't think a non-QB will claim number one. QBs impact the game in a different way that an running back. AD probably gets No. 2 after his incredible season. Not saying Peterson doesn't deserve the 1, but I don't think the vote would go that way.
Jared Allen needs to be on the list somewhere. unfortunately, the other two players From last years roster are playing for Seattle this year -- Percy and Antoine Winfield. I don't think there's another Viking that will make it this year. Kalil probably will in a season or two.

Felton? He's going to be ranked
higher than Percy Harvin?

I'd be surprised if anyone but AD was on there, well Allen will be because of reputation but yeah.

I might agree if Peyton or Brady went on a tear and won the Super Bowl. But without an elite QB in/winning the super bowl I don't think there will be a QB that can beat out AD.

There is like 16 WR ranked ahead of Percy Harvin and Felton was arguable the best FB overall this year, so yea i'd put him higher.

Julius Peppers has been top 40 despite barley having over 10 sack seasons. Jared Allen in on there for sure, ill grantee it. As for Felton and Rudolph I cant grantee but there is a strong possibly because they're seen giving lots of commentary on the top 100 and they where placed atleast top 200 that was 'picked' to vote on the show.

And Jacoby Jones is ranked higher than Percy Harvin so that's all you need to know.
The whole 2 weeks before the top 100 they had the showed called 'behind the top 100'. Where they explain they selected 200 current NFL players they feel could fall in the top 100 and have them vote on what order they think it should be.
Of course raven players are going to be overrated this year, just like every year a team wins a superbowl.

It's probably so tough to pick 100 players as most people just see skill guys like WR, RB, and QB. Guys like Winfield, Joe Staley from SF (really any of that OL), Matt Kalil, Sullivan, etc aren't sexy. I'm willing to bet there's one really good player on every team in the NFL. Hell, Nick Mangold from the JETS is probably one of the best centers in the game.
