Ditto. I picked WR in the poll but I just want them to get the best player possible that addresses a team need.

Defensive line because not only is it likely that a defensive lineman will be the BPA, it also fills a need.

If Harvin gets traded I would love to see us get Tavon Austin.

I voted WR but as a lot of you have said, BPA is really what's needed. But at the end of the day we shouldn't pass up a class draft pick no matter what.

There's like 3 WR I would vote for getting in the 1st round, so I voted that way. Otherwise.....

DL is too deep to draft a #1 pick there.

If Harvin is dealt, I think this would be a really likely scenario. I don't think he'll be traded though.

Just because a position is "deep" in the draft doesn't mean that you'll get the same quality player in the bottom of the second round that you might in the bottom of the first round. It means that good players will be available into the middle rounds, but the cream generally rises to the top, and if you want the best you're going to have to use a high draft pick.

What's the sense in the Vikings drafting another Letroy Guion or Christian Ballard? Both of those DTs are young, serviceable, and have some upside. Wasting a draft pick on yet another young DT who doesn't stand out in comparison to them would be foolish. If the Vikings want to upgrade the DT position or find a replacement for Kevin Williams, they'll be lucky to do it in the second round and have almost no chance of doing so in a later round.

Mark my words. Keenan Allen will be a top notch receiver. If he is still available at 23, we have to take him.

This draft is much deeper than a Gion or Ballard. And with WR and the secondary more of a need right now, a DT or OL probably comes in the 3rd and or 4th rounds.

I agree with this as well. Although I would rather see them draft a play maker on the offensive or defensive side of the ball, whether it be a stud WR, CB, LB or ball hawking Safety.

I'm perfectly okay with them taking a DT if the WR who they want isn't on the board.

And if a great LB falls to them, I'd be happy with that, too.

After seeing the franchise tags, and the fact the Vikings are looking like they are moving toward finding new receivers, I think Minnesota should take Kennan Allen and Justin Hunter in the first two rounds.That would be awesome.

With this year's draft, with so many players in the 11-45 range being so even, every team is going to get one of their "top fifteen" guys in the first round. As I'm reading all the guesses, on this board and on the internet, there is incredible variation among us and among the experts on who will be available. Clearly some 22 players won't be there when we draft at 23, but you would have to be incredibly unlucky not to have one of your top choices there.

For example, lets say the Vikes want to draft Cordarelle Patterson. We don't need every team to think Cordarelle is worse than the 22nd best player, we just need every team to think there is one player better than him at the time they draft. For teams that need offensive linemen, maybe they reach a little rather than taking Patterson. For teams needing a WR, maybe they have Austin or Allen rated a little higher. Some people definitely had Allen higher to begin with, but changed with the combine. But remember how poorly a large number of combine workout warriors have done in the league.

So I'm just hoping to get one of the elite guards, receivers, defensive tackles, or defensive backs with the pick. If they all happen to be gone, our pick will be pretty valuable to someone else who wants one of the offensive tackles or linebackers that were bypassed early in the round.

Looking at how this draft may play out, the chances of Patterson or Austin falling to them are slim to none so I don't see WR a necessity in the first round. There is a lot of value at the DT position as well and I would be more comfortable them going after Sheldon Richardson or Jonathan Hankins in the 1st and still getting what they need at WR in the 2nd.
