Because I belong to three Packer forums. They were talking it wouldn't be bad if he actually tackled Peterson for a change.

One of the things I respect most about Peterson is how he handles himself in the end zone after scoring. Doesn't spike the ball, usually just drops it and gets back to business.

I did notice, though, that for some reason he kept the ball from his TD catch, which is a relatively rare thing for him. He almost dropped that pass, as he make an awkward catch on a ball that he let bounce off his chest.

It's just silly when you're getting beaten like that to celebrate. If I were him I just wouldn't want to do anything else to piss Peterson off ...

so does it drive you crazy when after a big catch or a huge sack that our fans are jumping up and down, high-fiving and screaming their heads off? i guess if celebrating is bad sportsmenship we have some of the worst sports in the league when it comes to our fanbase because that place was rockin' on sunday.

well first of all...that DOES happen. everywhere. go to an away game and wear your vikes stuff and you're gonna get ribbed. some playful...others more over the top.

i just for the life of me can't figure out why FANS get bothered when the actual PLAYERS celebrate big plays. it is a game. it's fun. it's entertainment. now, if they are taunting the other team with their antics that is one thing. but their are penalties in place for that. some of which i think are asinine...especially at the college level. you can't do anything after a td or it's considered taunting.

i imagine you don't know how hard it is to make a play in the nfl. me neither. but i assume it's very difficult and that's why these guys work their #### of year round. why should guys who are playing a game not have fun and celebrate a hard-fought good play? i'm just trying to make sense of it.

allen makes a game ending sack to secure a win and his rope-tying is over the top. meanwhile, more power to me in the stands to jump around like a mad person, high five anyone in my area, scream profanities at anyone who will listen, and prepare my trash talk for the meesage boards later.

just don't know why the players shouldn't have far more leeway as the fans in these situations. at the VERY least....they should have the same rights as the fans. and that should include having a great time, celebrating big plays with friends/teammates, and enjoying a win any way they want. why fans should have more rights and be held to a different standard than the guys doing the work is something i admit i'll never be able to grasp.

I love creative celebrations by players. I like when certain players do their own "traditional" celebration, too (Jared Allen, Arian Foster, Alfred Morris come to mind), usually. However, I do think Aaron Rodger's DDC celebration is pretty lame, especially considering he sold himself out to State Farm for the move. I might be a little biased with that opinion tho.

With that said, I don't think some players realize how STUPID they look when they celebrate at the wrong times. It's like sitting next to an inexperienced sports fan through a whole game. NO MATTER HOW BIG OF A HIT YOU PUT ON SOMEONE, NEVER EVER EVER EVER SHOULD YOU CELEBRATE IF THEY MAKE A FIRST DOWN! PERIOD!!!! I'll cut the rant short there.

Do you ever celebrate a touchdown ? Or a sack or do you sit in silence watching the game saying oh great play. great touchdown these guys have emotions out there and are jacked when clutch plays happen and it also gets the crowd riled up. The game is suppose to be entertainment and for fun.

yes that is likely where we disagree and i respect your opinion so i hope i didn't come off that i didn't. i just disagree. i played college ball and in fact played against allen for years in the big sky conference. i loved every second of it and was part of many celebrations. i honestly don't think a single time i was celebrating i thought for one second i was doing it taunt my opponent. i did it because it was fun and i was excited. i did it to celebrate with my teammates and fire them up. i did it to interact with the fans who were going nuts to and it helped make them a part of the game.

i guess my opinion is i would be very surprised if more than maybe 5% of celebrations we witness are to show up the other team. and even that might be high. if players wanted to taunt the other team and their fans they could do that easily. i think they celebrate because it is a good time and a way to interact with the fans.

but i can at least see your stance now which i admit i couldn't before. our main point of disagreement is why players celebrate. i think it's to have fun and entertain. you think it is to taunt the other team.

Mini celebrations are OK from my perspective. Football is an emotional game and when a player makes a play it's natural to want to emphasize it. Allen has his sack dance, and there were some pretty entertaining TD dances guys used to do (although that seems to have declined a lot in recent years). Culpepper had his "roll", Rodgers has his title belt move. I kind of enjoy it.

It's hard to put a finger on exactly what disturbs me about the little practiced on-field celebrations. Most of the time I just cringe, because the player makes himself look like a dork. And I suppose I just don't enjoy the game as much when it's played by dorks.

It's kinda funny that all these guys want to be so bad-####, smack talking, getting in each others faces, throwing elbows and punches after plays. Then when they make a play (that's been made a thousand times before), they celebrate like ten year old girls. Show some self-respect, please.

i remember the vikes-pack monday night game in '09. i remember getting pretty tuned up with some buddies and i probably did 20 dances that night! one for every sack and one for every touchdown. it was a great time and an added bonus...i din't pay for a drink all night.

my calf-rope is every bit as good as JA's.
