You can say that again!

I agree. I'll go even further and assert that part of Moss's success in the NFL was due to Carter mentoring him. I may have a Moss jersey

, but I have 3 CC jerseys. In my opinion no one, and I mean
NO ONE had better hands than Cris Carter...

I think the 'logic' for not getting Cris in the Hall of Fame is because he wasn't a player that dramatically changed the way the game was played. IMO, that is BS. I don't remember Cris before 1998, simply because I was too young, but I have read all about his career. Cris Carter had the best hands when he played, if not all time, and could easily make defensive backs look foolish by his superb route running abilities. He better get in this year...

I went to games starting in 92 (shows my youthful age) and remember CC being the best WR out there. Getting Moss was a bonus. Moss should have no problem getting into HOF. Guy was UNREAL in his prime

Maybe a SB ring would have helped Cris Carter get inducted by now. If so, that's a feeble excuse for the voters to use.
One look at Carter's stats or especially at any of his highlight reels on Youtube and it's easy to see that he is one of the best receivers to ever catch a football.
How the heck can anyone argue with that?

Yep, he would have been in a while ago! Good point.

Feeble is the perfect word for it, Craig (although pathetic works well too).
As far as I'm concerned, the HOF voting committee has no excuse, none at all.

I hate how special teamers and wide receivers get shafted and they have to reach "consensus." Run it like MLB. Everybody eligible for voting, top 15 guys every year get in.
A player who is top 10 in 2 out of 3 statistical categories gets Automatically Inducted. This keeps us from having embarrassing things like Shannon Sharpe and Cris Carter not first balloting because the voters are a bunch of old geezers and pricks voting on emotion. For instance, any tight end or wide receiver top 5 in history in receptions, yards and/or touchdowns is an automatic inductee.
Does that make more sense to you guys?

Passed over every year.
I guess 1,101 catches, 13,000+ yards and 130 TDs just isn't good enough.
The HOF is a joke. CC's numbers are worthy of the HOF and he should have been in two years ago.

Cris Carter's case is a remarkable example of how wrong the HOF voting process in the NFL has become. Until he gets in, the NFL Hall of Fame has very little legitimacy.

that is quite a list of players...lots of good memories there.
2 questions... 1.with that many people to vote on, how does anyone ever get elected? and 2. why is a punter even on the list?

1. They go through a succession of votes that narrow down the final candidates. (Do you think that if we started with, say 10,000 people running for President of the United States, nobody would be elected?)
2. I suppose you'll be relieved to know that there have been no full time punters yet elected to the NFL Hall of Fame.

Ray Guy has come close. Honestly, he should probably be in the HOF, too (he's in various HOFs at every other level he's played at). If you never saw him play, you wouldn't know why. I only got to see him at the very end of his career when I was pretty young. The guy's punts used to kill offenses dead.
Gary Andersen and Morten Anderson are on the list, too. BOTH played for the Vikings. One nearly got the team in the Super Bowl, and the other was the reason they were denied from that same Super Bowl.
No one has love for special teamers, until they win it all for you.
