^Definitely agree here. The more I hear about the kid...the less I want him anyway.

I am fine with Johnny Flynn. I never wanted Rubio anyway, just a waste of a pick IMO. Hopefully we trade the bastard and get some studs/picks.

If he doesnt want to play for the Wolves (and i agree with you there i doubt he does) there will be tons of teams lining up to grab the kid. A kid that could play for a team a good 15 years. It will work out for the Wolves in the long run.
Yes, but then the value of the #5 pick in this year's draft is zero for two years. They should have traded down that night, they'd have another player and something else right now, not be waiting for 2 years to see what happens.

Is Rubio ready for the NBA?

Is two seasons in Europe sort of like college ball for unpolished American players?

Yes? To which question?

Is Rubio ready for the NBA?

Restated, is he better off with two seasons in Europe to polish his game?

Either way he kind of has the Wolves by the balls, doesn't he? If he flops, then he flops, and there is no upside to the Wolves because 1., he bombed in Europe, and 2. everybody and UR MOM knows he doesn't want to play for Minnesota, and hell, who can blame him?

If he's all that and a bag of chips in Europe either we'll have to pay a ludicrous amount of money to him before he even plays one possession in the pros or he'll seek a big payday in one of the 10 or so franchises with better paychecks, climates, and prospects than the Wolves.

I really want that Flynn guy to be a real blue collar Wheaties Box wholesome All-american type player and this piece of Eurotrash to flop. Yeah, its a little petty, but it looks like Rubio really stuck it to the Wolves.

No, Rubio is not ready for the NBA. And, yes, he is better off with two seasons and another Olympics under his belt.

I agree.

Was he worth the high draft pick?

I only lived in Minnesota for a couple years but have followed them after I moved there. Haven't they been dealing with the same issues for the last 4 or 5 years? It seems like they just keep hoping to get somebody. They couldn't seem to get anybody to play with Garnett. Now they keep getting players hoping they will develop.
Please enlighten me if I am incorrect!

Looking at what he did against the pros in the Olympics, yes. A little more experience and imagine the possibilities. Playing in Spain will be like playing a couple of years in college. Plus, he'll probably get to play in another Olympics before playing in the NBA. That can't hurt. (Unless he gets hurt.)

Part of the reason they couldn't get anyone to play with Garnett was Garnett's contract. It ate up too much of the cap. But it was frustrating to see the Celtics do in one year what the Timberwolves could not in all the years they had KG.

sorry about the seemingly endless color change in my text. Got a new monitor and all the colors look different than on my other one.

One should consider the impact of David Stern's wrath on the Wolves for the Joe Smith contract debacle even though every team in the NBA did similar free agent guarantees with a wink and a nudge. In 2000, Stern fined Minnesota for $3.5 million, the largest team fine in league history, and stripped the franchise of three first-round draft picks, the largest penalty in any major league sport.

Sterns actions in that were deplorable, but the TWolves finished decently each of the years they lost picks (ie, no lottery picks lost). Probably the best guy they missed out on was Zach Randolph, who puts up good numbers despite being insane.

That certainly sheds new light on the issue. What about the coaching? Has that played a big factor at all with the team? They have gone thru 2 or 3 coach's if my memory serves correct.
