I think there is a chance, but that scenario would involve AP turning into one stubborn, stubborn mofo.Pondering Her Percy wrote: Agreed, I don't think this is a big deal. Analysts on TV are saying the same thing. As many of you know, I wanted AP gone but if anyone out there thinks he'll be traded post-draft, it's not going to happen. Our trade window was a few weeks ago when the draft was going on. There is no window anymore. If we drafted a good back in this past draft, then I think there would have been a window but with only McKinnon and Mr. 3.2 YPC himself, there isn't a chance we trade him now.

Yeah, I think the Vikings have been clear about this. They expect Peterson to play this year and they look forward to what he brings to the field.Mothman wrote:
In their view, they may be done with it. I doubt they are phased at all by Peterson not planning to show up for this OTA. It was easily anticipated and likely expected.
The OTA item is much ado about nothing, in my view. The Vikings had to know it was going to happen.
I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but does anyone know what possible gain Peterson could get if he decides to hold out? And hold out for what? Guaranteed money?

Peterson is a stubborn MOFO.
In a sense it's how all this crap happened.
I won't feel good about it until he reports to camp. The guy can afford to sit if he wants out bad enough.

I wish Peterson was there for the voluntary OTA's
but he obviously is still bent out of shape about last year.
I think it will be interesting to see if Peterson misses mandatory Vikings events and starts getting fined.
If neither camp blinks this could end Peterson's career and chance at the Hall Of Fame, someday

I really doubt it, he is a surefire Hall of Famer at this point, imo.jackal wrote:I wish Peterson was there for the voluntary OTA's

And as bad of a move as I thinking holding out would be, I doubt he would never hit the field again, someone would sign/pay him after his asking price came down.

He will either play for the Vikings or the Vikings will get something for him. If he decides to hold out or retire, he is done in the NFL. The Vikings will not relinquish his rights freely.Jordysghost wrote: I really doubt it, he is a surefire Hall of Famer at this point, imo.

Oh I agree completely, but if AP decides to do things the hard way I can see the Vikes getting whatever they can for him.Raptorman wrote: He will either play for the Vikings or the Vikings will get something for him. All we can do is guess but guaranteed money is one of the reasons he might hold out and a trade seems to be the other (and the reason that keeps coming up). If he feels there's truly some kind of irreconcilable difference with team ownership, and if that runs deeply enough, maybe he simply won't be willing to play for the team again under any circumstances. I find it hard to believe it will come to that but it's possible that what he would hope to gain in a holdout is simply be the ability to play somewhere else.losperros wrote: Yeah, I think the Vikings have been clear about this. Hasnt he always skipped OTA's since becoming a "star" ?
I remember him skipping ALL the preseason play and just hitting the ground running in game # 1 of the season for quite awhile now.....

Not always but he's done it...chicagopurple wrote:Hasnt he always skipped OTA's since becoming a "star"?
He wasn't skipping preseason play. he just didn't play (or barely played) in those games. However, he was still present and practicing with the team in training camp and the preseason.I remember him skipping ALL the preseason play and just hitting the ground running in game # 1 of the season for quite awhile now.....

In Vikings-Peterson stare down, retirement card could come into playAdrian Peterson has vented to some close to him about retirement. He and agent Ben Dogra won't go back to MIN meekly

From December 2014:@RossTuckerNFL Adrian Peterson drama feels like a waste of time. Gets $12.75M guaranteed if shows up for first game. He'll be there.

Re: Adrian Peterson Reinstated
If he were to do that, couldn't the Vikings go after him for some of his guaranteed money since he would not be fullfilling the remainder of his contract. I seem to remember Barry losing a court case on that when he decided to retire. I believe Ricky Williams was going to have to give some of his back when he decided he would rather smoke pot than play anymore, so he returned to the NFL.dead_poet wrote: In Vikings-Peterson stare down, retirement card could come into play

As I understand it, he isn't due any guaranteed money?mmvikes wrote:If he were to do that, couldn't the Vikings go after him for some of his guaranteed money since he would not be fullfilling the remainder of his contract.
I don't think AP is bluffing; I think he is dead set on never playing in purple again, whether that means a trade or retirement.
