I don't think its worse than booze...I believe they both should

they should pay, a huge price) The idea of someone passed out

What does that have to do with Patterson?

It truly doesn't matter to me if CP ever starts at WR. The guy has special talent and it makes no sense why there aren't a solid handful of plays, and potential for more evolving, as situations call for it.
When the offense is stuck or when you just need to give a defense pause and/or pick up a first down.
Ted Ginn had a huge game in the first half last night....and none of it was traditional WR stuff. He's going to the superbowl along with Joe Webb.....meanwhile the Vikings never got a chance to play Carolina because they couuldn't score a TD when they needed to and their offense sucks bad.
CP may not be cutting it at WR and therefor justifiably has been gettng no reps. Has Turner been cutting it at OC? No, he hasn't.
Turner also intimated as he was hired that he had already been drawing up plays for CP.
The fact the they are not finding ways to tweak the offense and get this guy involved when the offense is so putrid says to me that Norv is woefully ineffcient at being creative in his job thus far. CP is not the only example on that side of the ledger.
I'll be glad to see Norv go at some point...but I hope CP is at least returning kicks here for years to come.
I would love to see Josh Gordon here too.

The problem here is that there is absolutely no evidence to refute the statement that Patterson is holding himself back. There is also nothing to support the argument that Norv or Zim are mismanaging Patterson.
Hell the way I see it, the fact that Norv was excited to use Patterson is much better evidence supporting the idea that Patterson messed something up rather than Norv not wanting to use him.
@Irish
You seem convinced the CP has to do more to justify putting in some plays for him.
Ted Ginn is a perfect example of a guy that has massive athletic talent and has bounced around the league because he's not built in the mold of a traditional wideout. Yet he has found a home on a superbowl squad and was the main thrust of the offense early in the championship game. He literally outgained the entire Carddinal offense in the 1st qtr on 3 plays and was largely responsible for the 10pt lead they gained, solely on his athletic ability and his teams wilingness to exploit that by creating ways to put the ball in his hands.
To suggest or deny that CP doesn't at least add the potential for that capacity, if not more, in the face of a horribly ineffective scoring offense is mind boggling.
The point isn't whether CP is or isn't being held back in terms of being a WR threat....the point is that their offense was TOTAL CRAP against basically every team that mattered..yet there was no serious effort to include CPs glaringly obvious playmaking abilities in an efffort to score!
In that sense a case could be made that the whole team is being held back by a woefully predictable offensive (pun intended) gameplan.
Whether or not a package for CP would be successul doesn't matter as much as not even giving it a try, given how lame their scoring offense was/is. If they had success on offense similar to their defense...like CAR and SEA, for example, both incredibly dynamic units, no one would be that concerned that all CP does is return kicks as good as anyone ever has.
YMMV

You are right, I am convinced of that because clearly Zimmer and Norv are.
@Irish
lol...yeah I'll go one step further regarding Norv bieng right or wrong. It's well within the range of debate to suggest that Norv is decidely more ineffective as an OC than CP is as a WR....the numbers actually bear it out when equal opportunity is given.
And i'm not just talking about Norv's last 2 seasons in Minny.
It isn't about Norv and/or Zimmer being right or wrong about CP as a WR...nor is it about CP exclusively, it's questioning whether or not Norv has the actual capacity and adaptive creativity to make effective use of the talent that's been stocked up on that side of the ball. The early results are in and the answer is a resounding NO! So 'no', in fact, that components of his staff are being replaced swiftly.
Each of his predecessors did more with less IMHO.
If they find a way to make the O-line servicable and still fail to be at least a top 20 offense, with all tha speed and talent....I would hope they send him off to kick rocks, just as swiftly.
ted ginn is a horrible example. he's on his 5th team in 9 seasons. i see patterson being more like jacoby jones. a really good kick returner who bounces around and occasionally makes a play at wr.

for the third time in this thread i'll bring up 2014. patterson was on the field a ton, had slightly less touches and targets than his rookie season, and offered up very little of the explosive plays everyone says he brings. the coach's now have two full seasons with him, and zimmer, not norv pointed out that unless something changes patterson will pretty much be a kick returner. what more do you patterson junkies want or need to hear? he isn't the player he was in 2013 and he isn't improving as a receiver. how about focusing on guys like diggs, wright and thielan who are obviously buying into coaching and improving as players?
@Slap
Norv was the OC in 2014.
I'm not a CP junkie per se....I'm someone who truly believes that Norv Turner is not the answer at OC. The CP situation is just a proxy, one of several IMO, to make the case.
If they manage to put points on the board next season, without making significant changes in how they operate on game day, i'll gladly eat crow. Just like I'm doing right now, as I was one who was stoked at the hiring of Turner. I believe I was totally wrong and i'm not about to believe that Norv can't be wrong about something regarding football. His record speaks for itself.

my point was norv used patterson a lot in 2014 with not a lot to show for it. i'm not a huge fan of norv or patterson, but zimmer obviously has faith in one and not the other, and that's good enough for me.
@Slap
And my point is HOW he was/is used. Same for AD and, until the final 4 weeks, McKinon.
The bottom of the league on offense is not good enough for me regardless of who signed off on it.
Zimmer has made plenty of in game blunders, and the way he is surrounding himself with former head coaches on that side of the ball makes me wonder if maybe Norv has had too much of a pull on his ear.
Anyway....i know where you and Irish are coming from. I just don't see Zimmer and Turner as being infallible. The defense is great while the offense has swan dived since Ponder was QB. Something doesn't add up at all.
That's all for me on this topic~
You have an opinion that you can used evidence framed a certain way to support. We can do the same thing with ours.
there is LITERALLY ZERO evidence to support Patterson being wasted because he cant get on the field. And if Zimmer has shown one thing its that he doesn't tolerate sub par work. So if he had even a whiff of a thought that Patterson would help them win more game I think he would be up Norv's #### to get him on the field.
